A Freelance Medical Record Reviewer is a healthcare professional who independently reviews and analyzes medical records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulations. They often work with law firms, insurance companies, or healthcare organizations to identify relevant information for claims, audits, or legal cases. This role typically requires a background in nursing or healthcare, strong attention to detail, and good analytical skills. Freelance reviewers work on a contract basis, allowing for flexible hours and remote work opportunities.

To thrive as a Freelance Medical Record Reviewer, you typically need clinical experience, strong analytical skills, and a background in nursing, coding, or healthcare administration. Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, medical coding software (e.g., ICD-10, CPT), and compliance regulations like HIPAA is crucial.
