Job Description:
Job Title: Hydraulics Engineer
Location: Watertown
Department: Engineering/Mechanical Systems
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Job Type: Full-Time
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Hydraulics Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis, testing, and implementation of hydraulic systems and components used in industry/application, e.g., heavy machinery, & automotive. This role requires a strong understanding of fluid dynamics, system integration, and mechanical design principles.
What you'll do
  • Design and develop hydraulic systems and components for new and existing products.

  • Perform simulations and calculations to ensure system performance and reliability.

  • Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers.

  • Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations for hydraulic issues.

  • Support prototype development, testing, and validation of hydraulic systems.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

  • Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and maintenance phases.

What you'll bring
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering, Fluid Power Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in hydraulic system design and analysis.

  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Onshape) and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, ANSYS).

  • Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, control valves, pumps, actuators, and filtration systems.

  • Familiarity with ANSI Standards, ISO, SAE, and other relevant hydraulic standards.

  • Good 3D modeling ability for piping and hose routings in 3D CAD software.

  • Good knowledge about JIC and SAE fittings for hydraulic pipes and hoses and sizing of hydraulic lines.

  • Experienced in selection of hydraulic components such as cylinders, motors, pumps etc.

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Experienced with SolidWorks preferred

Salary: The compensation range for this position is $80k - $95k annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
