Job description

Onward Education is partnering with a school district in Maricopa County, AZ to find dedicated and compassionate High School Special Education Resource Room Teachers to support students who benefit from targeted, specialized instruction while continuing to participate in the general education setting.
Position Overview
The Resource Room Teacher provides small-group and/or individualized instruction to middle school aged students/ high school aged students who need additional support in specific academic or social-emotional areas. Students typically spend the majority of their school day in general education classrooms and receive specialized instruction in the resource room for part of the day.
This is a great opportunity for a special education educator who enjoys providing targeted interventions, building strong student relationships, and collaborating with general education teachers to help students succeed. Willingness to provide a part-time schedule on certain caseloads.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction in a resource room/pull-out setting
  • Work with students individually or in small groups based on their specific needs
  • Provide targeted instruction in areas such as reading, writing, math, executive functioning, and social skills
  • Reinforce and build skills that students may be struggling with in the general education classroom
  • Develop and implement instruction aligned with students' IEP goals
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction and interventions as needed
