Instructional Responsibilities
โข Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with Utah Core Standards.
โข Develop and implement lesson plans using evidence-based instructional strategies.
โข Utilize formative and summative assessment data to guide instruction and monitor student progress.
โข Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs, including accommodations and modifications as required by IEPs, 504 plans, and language proficiency levels.
โข Integrate technology effectively to enhance instruction and student engagement.
โข Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress in accordance with District procedures.
Classroom Environment & Student Support
โข Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
โข Implement effective classroom management strategies appropriate for middle school learners.
โข Foster critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
โข Support students' social-emotional growth consistent with District expectations.
โข Supervise students during assigned duties (hallways, lunch, assemblies, etc.).
Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities
โข Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and team meetings.
โข Collaborate with special education staff, counselors, and support personnel to meet student needs.
โข Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
โข Participate in required faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities.
โข Maintain compliance with District policies, Utah State Board of Education regulations, and applicable federal laws.
Mathematics-Specific Instructional Responsibilities
โข Teach middle school mathematics content aligned with the Utah Core Standards, including number systems, ratios and proportional relationships, expressions and equations, functions, geometry, statistics, and mathematical reasoning.
โข Support students in developing mathematical problem-solving, reasoning, communication, modeling, and procedural fluency.
โข Use math-specific formative assessments, student work analysis, and benchmark data to identify learning gaps and provide targeted intervention or enrichment.
โข Provide instruction that helps students connect mathematical concepts to real-world applications and prepares them for future secondary mathematics coursework.
โข Use appropriate mathematics instructional tools, including calculators, manipulatives, visual models, online platforms, and other technology resources.
โข Collaborate with mathematics department members and grade-level teams to support vertical alignment, common assessments, intervention planning, and student achievement goals.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
โข Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
โข Current Utah Professional Educator License.
โข Ability to meet Highly Qualified Teacher requirements under applicable state and federal guidelines.
โข Must hold a Middle School Mathematics Endorsement attached to either an Elementary or Secondary Utah Educator License, or a Secondary Mathematics Endorsement.
โข Knowledge of Utah Core Standards for middle school mathematics.
โข Ability to teach mathematical concepts using multiple representations, strategies, and instructional approaches appropriate for middle school learners.
โข Ability to use mathematics assessment data to guide instruction, intervention, enrichment, and progress monitoring.
Preferred Qualifications
โข Prior middle school teaching experience.
โข Demonstrated effectiveness in classroom management and differentiated instruction.
โข Experience integrating technology into classroom instruction.
โข Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Description
Millard School District is seeking a qualified Secondary Math Teacher to provide standards-based mathematics instruction to middle school students. The successful candidate will support student learning through effective instruction, assessment, intervention, classroom management, collaboration, and communication with students, parents/guardians, staff, and administrators.
