Job description

Position Summary

Teach General Biology for majors or non-majors. These courses deal with general aspects of biology at the lower or upper level.  Subjects may be Conservation Biology, Ornithology, general biology or others . They are composed of a three hours a week lecture and 2 hours a week lab. The course may be taught as a dual credit course for the local school systems.

4 Credit Hours - $4200

Duties and Responsibilities

Teach three hours of lecture a week and 2 hours of labs with all the duties that it implies in terms of preparation of classes, timely grading exams and papers, holding limited office hours for students consultation. Candidate must also prepare the labs, and make sure they are clean and ready for the next professor before the lab time expires. Successful candidate will also direct and mentor a Teaching Assistant that will help with the lab activities.

Candidate needs a Masters in Biology or related field or no less than 18 graduate credits in biology. Previous experience teaching with Hispanic students is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be familiar with the local communities and preparation of students in our school district.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Successful candidate must be able to deliver lectures and engage students in the course content. They also need to be proficient in the basic concept of human biology and the importance in the maintenance of homeostasis in the health care and health sciences.
