Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled multimedia producer to join the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center?s collaborative and innovative team to promote one of the country?s premier cancer research and care institutions.
The Rogel Cancer Center, part of Michigan Medicine, is a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center and the only cancer program in Michigan ranked by U.S. News & World Report. The cancer communications team works closely with the Michigan Medicine Department of Communication, using the same overarching communication strategies.
The broadcast producer will lead efforts to create videos, podcasts and photos that showcase the Rogel Cancer Center?s work in research, community outreach, training and education, and patient care. This person will also participate as part of the award-winning Michigan Medicine Creative Services team within the Department of Communication. This position will have a dual reporting relationship to both the director of communications at the Rogel Cancer Center and the director of creative services in the Department of Communication, with primary supervision from the Rogel Cancer Center.
Successful candidates must be self-starters who are able to balance multiple projects and recommend best practices. The candidate must be imaginative, versatile, adaptable, quick-thinking, enthusiastic, creative and team-oriented, with a good sense of design.
Responsibilities*
The broadcast producer will be a key component of collaborative work within the Rogel Cancer Center to elevate the communication team?s content marketing and brand journalism efforts. The includes creating multimedia content, including video and audio, featuring Rogel faculty discussing significant cancer research findings and news, priority cancer prevention and screening topics and key clinical initiatives. In addition, the broadcast producer will highlight patient stories and support services available at the cancer center.
Specific duties include:
  • Create high-impact feature videos highlighting Rogel research and patients
  • Collaborate with Rogel Communications team members and partners across the cancer center to create multimedia content (video, audio, photo) in support of Rogel?s mission. This includes support for Community Outreach and Engagement; Training and Career Development Coordination; Shared Resources; clinical trials; and the continuum of research from basic sciences to clinical research to population-based research.
  • Create vertical video and audio packages to supplement written stories and social media.
  • Serve as photo editor for Rogel?s two award-winning magazines. Thrive, published twice per year, highlights patient stories and resources. Illuminate, published annually, focuses on high-impact research initiatives.
  • Work with team members to produce Cancer Aware podcasts.
  • Identify new and innovative opportunities to enhance storytelling through visual and audio techniques.
  • Participate in creative services team meetings and collaborate with other graphic designers and videographers to represent Rogel among key institutional priorities.
  • Collaborate with other members of the creative services team to optimize creative direction of visual branding efforts and other multimedia projects.

Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's degree in digital or fine arts, mass communication or broadcast production
  • Two to four years of experience in advertising, communications, marketing or digital media
  • Experience and familiarity with video and photography equipment, best practices and processes
  • Demonstrable proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with daily deadlines, moving projects from ideation to launch and success measurement
  • Collaborative approach to work with a positive, upbeat, professional and responsible attitude
  • The ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal staff and outside partners/vendors
  • Exceptional communication skills

Desired Qualifications*
  • Advertising agency or online publishing experience
  • Experience with digital asset management systems
  • General familiarity and experience with streaming software and social media sites
  • Experience working in health care and/or cancer research fields
