We're looking for a Sound Designer to join our team and help us deliver our next incredible experience for players.


Note: (1) This role does not involve music composition. (2) This role falls under Respawn's hybrid work model which will require onsite presence at one of EA's hub studios. Preference will be given to those candidates who can be stationed in Chatsworth, CA.


Responsibilities

Design and edit interactive sound effects for gameplay systems, characters, abilities, environments, and UI using Reaper.


Integrate and tune audio assets using Wwise, Unreal Engine, and proprietary tools.


Use creative audio processing to craft sounds that are clear, impactful, and responsive in gameplay, and support the narrative.


Balance, mix, and troubleshoot sounds in-game to ensure clarity, consistency, and performance.


Collaborate with other departments to ensure audio supports gameplay and narrative intent.


Maintain audio standards through asset management, naming conventions, documentation, improving audio pipelines, and implementation of best practices.


Qualifications

2+ years of professional game audio experience, preferably on AAA titles. Experience contributing to at least one shipped title is preferred.


Strong sound design abilities combined with an understanding of technical audio systems and workflows.


Ability to independently own audio content for small- to medium-sized gameplay features.


Skilled at integrating audio using game engines and audio middleware, especially Unreal Engine and Wwise.


Proficiency with DAWs, audio editing tools, and plugins, with preferable experience using Reaper and standard plugin suites such as Fabfilter/Soundtoys/etc.


Ability to quickly learn new in-house audio tools and workflows.


Detail driven and has ability to conform to project standards like naming conventions, implementation best practices, and style considerations.


Able to communicate effectively within and outside of the Audio Team.


Enthusiastic about game audio.


Strong communication and collaboration skills with both audio and cross-disciplinary teams.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The ranges listed below is what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).


PAY RANGES

Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.


In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to temporary full-time employees scheduled to work full time.


In Canada, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, and extended health/dental/vision coverage and basic life insurance.
