Under the direction of the Project Manager, the Civil Site Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and supporting all civil construction activities required for the successful execution of utility-scale Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. The Civil Site Coordinator works closely with the Civil Superintendent, subcontractors, engineering, QA/QC, HSE, environmental, survey, procurement, and client representatives to ensure civil works are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Assist the Project Manager in coordinating subcontract agreements, purchase orders, scopes of work, and site work packages required for civil construction activities.
• Coordinate daily civil construction activities with the Superintendent to support project execution, including earthworks, grading, roads, drainage systems, underground utilities, equipment foundations, crane pads, laydown areas, and site restoration activities.
• Confirm and coordinate technical requirements for civil engineering and maintenance with on site teams and Civil Subcontractors;
• Monitor daily production quantities, subcontractor productivity, schedule progress, and project milestones while preparing daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
• Coordinate interfaces between civil, electrical, mechanical, commissioning, environmental, and quality teams to minimize conflicts and maintain project schedule.
• Support QA/QC activities by coordinating inspections, testing requirements, deficiency tracking, punch list completion, and turnover documentation.
• Coordinate civil inspections with engineering consultants, surveyors, municipalities, clients, regulatory agencies, and third-party inspectors.
• Ensure that technical procedures are applied to the work performed on site in collaboration with the Project Engineer;
• Coordinate delivery, receiving, storage, inventory control, and utilization of civil construction materials, equipment, and consumables.
• Promote Borea’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) culture by ensuring compliance with company policies, site-specific safety plans, permit requirements, traffic management plans, and environmental protection measures.
• Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, and engineering revisions to ensure field activities are completed using current documentation.
• Identify field issues and coordinate technical solutions with engineering and project management.
• Support project scheduling by identifying constraints and assisting with short-term planning activities.
• Participate in daily coordination meetings, subcontractor meetings, and client progress meetings.
• Assist with cost control by monitoring labour, equipment utilization, subcontractor performance, and material consumption.
• Coordinate permit requirements and ensure all applicable municipal, provincial, environmental, and landowner conditions are met.
• Support project closeout activities including deficiencies, turnover packages, as-built documentation, and final acceptance.
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
• 5+ years of experience coordinating civil construction activities on renewable energy, or heavy civil projects.
• Experience with working within an EPC for industrial construction is an asset
• Experience on utility-scale Wind, Solar, or Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects is considered a strong asset.
• Working knowledge of CSA, provincial OH&S legislation, environmental regulations, and industry construction standards.
• Ability to interpret civil engineering drawings, specifications, survey information, and construction schedules.
• Excellent communication skills both verbally and written in English
• High administrative rigor and geographical mobility, ability to work away from home for a period of time
• Autonomy, leadership and ability to work in team
• Excellent team management and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to adapt to high-stress environments and weather fluctuations (construction site)
• Advanced experience with using Microsoft office suite, i.e., MS Project, Office, Excel, etc., and project management tools
• Valid driver license
