Job description

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Math or Relevant Area of Study
2. Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
3. Middle School Math Endorsement
4. High School Math Endorsement preferred
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
GOAL:
To provide math instruction that follows the curriculum and leads to student math proficiency. To provide quality math instruction rooted in the 8 mathematical practices. To encourage and facilitate students' development of competent mathematical skills and an understanding of the structure of mathematics; to motivate each pupil to apply mathematical understanding and skills in the solution of the practical problems; to encourage pupils to develop their special talents in the field of mathematics.ย 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teaches Math to students in grades 6, 7, and 8.











2. Teaches Integrated Math I to advanced 8th grade math students seeking high school math credit.

3. Plans and executes math instruction according to the District-adopted curriculum, keeping all learners on pace.

4. Tracks student progress to proficiency in math.

5. Designs and implements math interventions based on the MTSS framework.
6. Establishes a relationship with and communicates with parents.

7. Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
8. Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of District goals.
9. Counsels students for the purpose of improving performance, problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues.
10. Supports paraprofessionals in the classroom, ensuring they are prepared, know how to instruct small groups, and understand the student outcomes each day.





11. Manages student behavior within the parameters of the parent-student handbook and code of conduct for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
12. Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, school grounds, hallways, restrooms, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
13. Participates in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
14. Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
15. Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, lesson plans following scope and sequence, correspondence with parents and students, examinations and quizzes, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.
16. Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, harassment, zero tolerance offenses etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to state law and board policies.
17. Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
18. Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers, parents, administrators, students, central office staff, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction.
19. Supports other classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans.
20. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
21. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
22. Performs other duties as assigned.





















Salary: As outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

$47,000-$57,000 per collective bargaining agreement.
