What is freelance health writing?

Freelance health writing involves creating content about health, wellness, medicine, or healthcare topics for various clients on a contract basis. Freelance health writers may produce articles, blog posts, patient education materials, marketing copy, or medical research summaries. They often work with healthcare organizations, magazines, websites, or pharmaceutical companies and must be able to translate complex medical information into clear, accessible language for different audiences. Successful freelance health writers have strong research skills, attention to detail, and a good understanding of health-related topics.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a freelance health writer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Freelance Health Writer, you need strong research abilities, a solid understanding of medical and health topics, and excellent writing skills, often supported by a degree in journalism, communications, or a health-related field. Familiarity with referencing tools, content management systems (CMS), and adherence to style guides like AMA or AP is typically required. Outstanding freelancers also excel in meeting deadlines, adapting tone for diverse audiences, and communicating complex information clearly. These skills ensure the production of accurate, engaging, and trustworthy health content for various clients and platforms.

What are some common challenges freelance health writers face when working with multiple clients?

Freelance health writers often juggle assignments from various clients, which can lead to challenges such as managing differing editorial guidelines, keeping up with rapidly changing health information, and maintaining consistent communication. Balancing deadlines and ensuring each piece meets the unique voice and expectations of each client requires strong organizational skills. Additionally, writers must stay up-to-date with credible medical sources and adhere to ethical standards, which adds another layer of responsibility to their workflow.

Job description

We are seeking a talented, creative, and hands-on Content Manager to join our marketing team in Utah. This is an exciting, early-career opportunity for a versatile creator who wants to be at the absolute forefront of the AI revolution in the dealership space (automotive, RV, powersports, marine, equipment).
Instead of just running traditional marketing playbooks, you will help us tell the compelling story of how modern dealers are implementing AI to transform their businesses. You will act as a key storyteller and a high-velocity content engine-scripting, filming, writing, and designing, while actively leveraging generative AI tools to scale your output. You'll also coordinate with our close-knit marketing team and manage a roster of premier freelance creative partners to scale our production.
What You Will Be Doing
  • Hands-on Content Execution: Produce high-quality content across multiple formats (video, written blogs, one-pagers, case studies) that speaks directly to the needs, pain points, and interests of dealership owners adopting new technologies.
  • AI Workflow Integration: Proactively use AI writing, design, and research tools to brainstorm concepts, draft copy, edit visual assets, and accelerate the overall content creation lifecycle without losing Kenect's unique brand voice.
  • Dealer Storytelling: Interview progressive dealers who are implementing AI, extracting the human-interest and business-impact angles to create highly engaging customer-advocacy content.
  • Contractor & Agency Management: Act as the primary point of contact for our network of freelance creative partners, managing their briefs, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Demand Generation, Product, and Sales to identify content gaps and deliver assets that drive brand engagement and conversion.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Portfolio of Work: A diverse portfolio demonstrating proficiency across multiple content mediums (must include samples of written work like blogs or scripts, and visual work like short-form video production or graphic layouts).
  • AI Content Proficiency: Hands-on experience and comfort using generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, Canva AI, or AI video/audio editing tools) as a day-to-day force multiplier for content production.
  • Experience: Early-career (minimal formal professional experience is okay!), but you must demonstrate a high degree of creative capability, resourcefulness, and a drive to learn.
  • Technical Aptitude: Experience with video editing software, design tools, and basic CMS/blogging platforms.
  • Industry Context: Experience with or a strong interest in B2B SaaS, AI technologies, or the dealership space (automotive, RV, powersports, marine) is a major plus.
  • Work Style: A proactive, eager-to-learn attitude. You must be comfortable working in a hybrid/in-office structure based in Utah

Company Values
  • Unwavering Customer Obsession
  • See it, Solve it, Get it Done
  • Build, Adapt, Win

Kenect Offers
  • Health, dental, vision, life & disability insurance
  • Paid day off on your birthday
  • Onsite gym
  • Breakroom full of snacks and drinks
  • Convenient location next to freeway entrance/exit
