Job description

Location: Durham, North Carolina (Hybrid)

The Mission: Why We Exist

Genomics is a science-led transatlantic TechBio combining large-scale genetic and health data with proprietary analytics to accelerate drug discovery and advance predictive, preventative healthcare. We are united by a single vision to help people live longer healthier lives, using the power of genomics.

Genomics aims to help people live longer, healthier lives in two ways: super-charging drug discovery and development for novel treatments with our AI-enabled advanced genetic analytics platform, and by helping people understand their personal risk of common chronic diseases through polygenic risk scores - giving doctors and health systems the chance to get the right people into the right prevention, screening and treatment programmes at the right time.

A Day in the Life

No two projects look the same, but a typical week might see you framing the right scientific question for a complex genomic analysis, then structuring the work so your team can run with it. You make the decisive calls when a problem is ambiguous or novel, and you roll up your sleeves on the toughest analyses yourself rather than watching from the sidelines.

You might act as strategic consultant to an external pharma or biotech partner in the morning - fielding sharp technical questions in real time - and mentor a junior colleague through a tricky method in the afternoon. Throughout, you are translating dense genomic results into clear, actionable insight, spotting delivery risks before they become problems, and keeping one eye on scientific quality and the other on scope, timelines and the partner experience.

Who You Are

You are a scientist who has moved beyond individual contribution and wants genuine ownership of outcomes. You hold a PhD (or equivalent experience) in a quantitative life-science discipline - genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics or a closely related field - and you have led complex scientific projects from end to end, managing timelines, scope and stakeholder expectations along the way.

You are fluent in genomic data analysis at scale, comfortable with large genetic datasets, GWAS, polygenic risk scores and related methodologies. Success in this role demands a robust grasp of statistical human genetics, applied inventively in a partner-facing environment: you excel at unravelling complex genomic data and have a knack for translating raw findings into actionable consulting insights, working collectively with both your highly skilled internal team and external partners.

You communicate with equal ease whether presenting to a non-specialist audience or debugging a method at your desk, you make sound analytical judgements under uncertainty, and you work naturally across teams. Most of all, you are ready to start bringing others up with you.

Your Package

We are committed to providing a transparent, supportive, and rewarding work environment.

  • Competitive Salary: Salaries are externally benchmarked annually to ensure top-of-market compensation.

  • Clear Career Path: A straightforward, open progression framework means you'll always know the path to promotion and how to achieve your next career goal.
