Job description

Senior Full Stack Software Development Engineer - AI, Search & Knowledge

Seattle, Washington, United States Machine Learning and AI

Join us in building the AI, Search & Knowledge (ASK) platform that enables teams at Apple to build Apple Intelligence and many other intelligent experiences across hardware, software and service products. We are looking for a senior full-stack software engineer who is passionate about building tooling that makes ML practitioners more productive. You will contribute to the development of Apple-internal systems for ML Model Management, ML Dataset Management, and Model Serving, working closely with design, infrastructure, and ML engineering teams to deliver polished, clean interfaces that simplify complex workflows. We're looking for a versatile engineer who thrives at the intersection of platform engineering, ML systems, and developer experience. Your work will enable teams building Apple Intelligence and other AI-driven experiences to focus on innovation rather than infrastructure complexity.

Description

In this role, you will design, build, and maintain full-stack applications that give ML teams visibility and control over their models, datasets, and serving infrastructure. The work spans both frontend (rich, interactive UIs for managing and exploring ML assets, managing deployments) and backend (APIs, data pipelines, integrations with platform services). Day to day, that means collaborating closely with design to craft intuitive experiences for data-intensive workflows, partnering with backend teams to build and surface the right abstractions, and working directly with ML engineers to deeply understand their pain points. The team values rapid iteration: prototype, ship, learn, and maintain high standards for quality, reliability, performance, and usability at scale.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience spanning frontend and backend systems
  • Deep proficiency in modern frontend frameworks (TypeScript, React) and modern CSS (e.g. Tailwind)
  • Track record shipping data-intensive UIs with complex state, real-time updates, and large-scale data visualization
  • Strong design and UX craft; ability to translate ambiguous requirements into polished, intuitive interfaces
  • Experience designing and consuming REST, gRPC, or GraphQL APIs
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • History of high-impact projects through cross-functional partnership with product, design, and infrastructure teams
  • Clear communicator who can navigate architectural tradeoffs and drive alignment across teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building ML platforms and familiarity with ML workflows (data preparation, training, evaluation, inference) and the developer experience challenges they present
  • Experience building platform UIs that serve thousands of internal users with high reliability expectations
