Job description

About Animalz
Animalz is a content marketing agency that partners with B2B SaaS companies, venture capital firms, and other tech organizations to drive long-term, sustainable growth through high-quality content.
Our fully remote team of experienced content marketers delivers strategies and content tailored to each customer's goals and context. We pride ourselves on our deep interest and understanding of software products and audiences, our commitment to thought leadership, and our relentless pursuit of mastering our craft.
Our customers include industry leaders like Amplitude, Ramp, and Wistia, as well as high-growth early-stage startups.
About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Content Marketer: an exceptional writer with the editorial judgment to own content quality for the customers they serve.
This is a writing-first role. About 70% of your time will be spent researching and writing content yourself-work that calls for real research, original thinking, and craft.
On the SEO team, that writing is built to perform in search: blog posts, guides, and landing pages that satisfy search intent and still read like something a person wanted to write. Search itself is changing, and this role sits right in the middle of that change. Alongside traditional rankings, you'll help customer content get found and cited by AI search tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews.
The rest of your time goes to making sure everything else your accounts publish is just as good as what you write. You'll manage the freelance writers who contribute to your accounts, keep the content calendar on track, review every piece before it reaches the customer, and ensure customer feedback is acted on and remembered.
You won't do any of this alone. Every account is served by a small team, and you'll work alongside teammates who own the overall strategy and the customer relationship. Your ownership is the content itself: writing much of it, and standing behind all of it.
What You'll Do
  • Write high-quality content designed to rank, weaving keyword research, search intent, and on-page best practices into genuinely good writing, grounded in a real understanding of each customer's product and audience
  • Review every piece your accounts deliver before it reaches the customer, whether you wrote it, a freelancer wrote it, or it started as an AI-assisted draft. (Note: we have separate Editors who edit pieces in production for feedback. Your role is the final review)
  • Refresh and optimize existing content to improve rankings, engagement, and visibility, in both traditional search and AI-powered discovery
  • Diagnose why a piece isn't performing, using tools like GA4, Google Search Console, and Ahrefs, and recommend clear, prioritized improvements
  • Help manage the freelance writers on your accounts, write briefs they can succeed with, and maintain customer brand guides and other assets for reference.
  • Act on customer feedback quickly and thoroughly, and keep track of it, so a customer never has to give the same note twice
  • Communicate directly with customers about deliverables, timelines, and revisions, and join customer calls as a trusted voice on the work
  • Help improve our AI-assisted content workflows by using them on real work and feeding back what you learn
  • Contribute to performance reporting, helping show customers what shipped, how it's performing, and what we're learning
  • Use AI tools thoughtfully, taking advantage of them where they genuinely help, and applying your own judgment and craft where they don't
  • Contribute to team knowledge-sharing and internal initiatives, learning from teammates and sharing what you know

What We're Looking For
  • 4-6 years of experience in content marketing, with at least 2 of those years in B2B SaaS. Agency experience can be a plus
  • Exceptional writing ability: You're first and foremost a writer. You produce publication-ready content with minimal revisions, writing with clarity, precision, and strategic insight, and you adapt your voice to different brands while keeping your standards high
  • Strong editorial judgment: You can read someone else's draft, explain clearly why it does or doesn't work. You catch quality problems before customers do
  • Deep SEO knowledge: You're fluent in keyword research, on-page optimization, content audits, and competitive analysis, and you can diagnose why a piece isn't ranking and what to do about it
  • Growing AEO fluency: You understand how AI-driven search is changing content visibility, and you're actively building hands-on skills in making content surface well in AI tools
  • Familiarity with SEO and analytics tools such as GA4, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, and Clearscope (or their equivalents)
  • Experience working with other writers: You've briefed, edited, or managed freelancers or teammates
  • Customer communication skills: You're clear, responsive, and trustworthy with customers, and you build confidence through the quality and reliability of your work
  • Strong organizational skills: You can manage multiple accounts, contributors, and deadlines at once without letting quality or dates slip
  • AI fluency: You use AI tools to support your workflow responsibly and effectively, you can edit AI-assisted drafts to publication quality, and you stay current on emerging best practices
  • Technical curiosity: You genuinely enjoy learning how software products and businesses work so you can write about them with authority
  • Ownership and adaptability: You take initiative, navigate ambiguity, and raise problems early, while they're still easy to solve

Room to Grow
Senior Content Marketers at Animalz have real room to grow. You'll start by taking ownership of content for a small set of customers, then take on bigger and more complex accounts as you're ready. From there, many people grow into leading content strategy or managing customer relationships-first alongside a senior teammate, then independently-which is the path to our Associate Head of Content role. Others go deep instead: our most experienced Senior Content Marketers lead content for our most demanding customers and mentor newer teammates, and that's a career here in its own right.
Whichever direction you grow, you'll keep writing. Even our most senior people do; it's the heart of what we sell.
Your First Few Months
You'll spend your first weeks learning our processes and editorial standards and getting to know your accounts, writing your first pieces with plenty of editorial support. Over your first few months, you'll step into full content ownership of your first account (with your Head of Content close by as a backstop) and grow from there at a pace that matches your experience.
Our Values
At Animalz, our values guide how we show up for our customers, our teammates, and the content we create.
  • Value Over Vanity: Success isn't measured in customer praise, but in the growth outcomes we deliver for them.
  • Two Steps Ahead: Great service means addressing a need or issue before it becomes notable.
  • Power Source, Not Power Trip: We find our greatest impact in being in service to others-our customers, our customers' customers, and one another. True power comes not from authority but from influence.
  • Pursue Mastery: Through deliberate practice and open collaboration, we build expertise that elevates both our work and our ability to deliver transformative results for our clients.
  • Left Brain, Right Brain, Robot Brain: We create extraordinary outcomes by combining empathy and creativity, data and research, and algorithms and AI.
  • In the Arena: We don't advise from the sidelines - we're active practitioners who shape the future of our industry through bold experimentation and continuous learning.

Working Arrangements
Location: Fully remote (Americas or EMEA)
Timezone Requirements: At least 4 hours of overlap with US timezones (EST/PST) to collaborate effectively with our team and customers
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 USD annually
Placement within the range is based on experience, skills, and demonstrated impact in previous content marketing roles.
  • Unlimited PTO policy
  • Flexible working schedule
  • Technology stipend
  • Learning stipend
  • Health & wellness stipend
  • Team lunch stipend
  • Health & vision insurance (US only)
  • 401(k) retirement plan (US only)

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
At Animalz, we believe diverse perspectives make us stronger. We're committed to building an inclusive workplace where people of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities can thrive. We particularly encourage applications from historically underrepresented groups in tech and marketing.
Equal Opportunity
Animalz is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, status as a protected veteran, status as an individual with a disability, or other applicable legally protected characteristics.
