Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, splice, test, and maintain fiber optic cable systems according to company standards and industry best practices.
  • Perform site surveys and inspections to determine optimal fiber optic installation plans.
  • Operate fusion splicing, OTDR, and power meter equipment for system testing and troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve fiber optic system issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Perform daily maintenance on fiber optic equipment and tools.
  • Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure proper installation and system configuration.
  • Ensure all fiber optic installations comply with safety standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide technical support to clients and internal teams, answering questions and troubleshooting issues.
  • Document daily work progress and system installations for reporting and quality control.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other field technicians to ensure smooth operations.
  • Participate in on-call rotations for emergency service as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fiber optic installation and maintenance, or similar technical field.
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic technologies, tools, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in using fiber optic testing equipment, including OTDR, power meters, and fusion splicers.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive company vehicles to job sites.
