About the Company
Founded in 2014 by Jerome Jacques Marie Mage, Jacques Marie Mage is a Los Angeles-based producer of limited-edition designer goods specializing in the micro-production of luxury eyewear for a clientele of discerning tastes.
With each new collection, JMM embraces a unique palette of precious materials, rich colors, and striking geometric forms, which cleverly reference and beautifully reconfigure the striking individuals, artistic movements, and world events of previous centuries. About the Role
The ideal candidate has a background in automotive or transportation design, with strong training and experience in advanced surface modeling and complex 3D form development. Working closely with the in-house designer, the freelance 3D Surface Modeler will translate established design concepts into highly refined 3D models that accurately maintain the original design intent. The position will require 2-3 times per week for in office for design meetings but can operate remotely. This will be a 20 hour/week role.

Responsibilities:
Translate existing jewelry designs and 3D concepts into highly refined Rhino 3D models.
Rebuild complex polygon/mesh models into clean, high-quality NURBS geometry
Develop and refine complex surfaces, transitions, profiles, and details, resolving geometric issues while preserving the original design intent.
Ensure accuracy in proportion, surface construction and continuity, and overall form.
Collaborate with the in-house designer to review and refine geometry throughout the modeling process.
Prepare clean, accurate, and organized Rhino 3D files for handoff to Product Development and manufacturing partners.
Produce high-quality KeyShot renderings of 3D models for internal design reviews and presentations.
Create accurate 2D technical drawings and specifications based on finalized 3D models.

Key Requirements:
Background in Automotive Design, Transportation Design, Industrial Design, or a related discipline; experience in Automotive surfacing or Class-A modeling preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Rhino and NURBS surface modeling.
Exceptional understanding of 3D form, proportion, curvature, and surface continuity
Strong ability to construct and manage complex organic surfaces
Experience rebuilding or reverse-engineering mesh geometry into clean NURBS surfaces

Proficiency in KeyShot or similar rendering software, with the ability to produce high-quality, photorealistic product renderings.
High attention to detail and ability to accurately interpret design intent
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently as a freelance contractor.
