What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Freelance Expedia Call Center Agent, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Freelance Expedia Call Center Agent, you need excellent customer service skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a good understanding of travel booking processes, often supported by prior call center or travel industry experience. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, online booking platforms, and Expedia’s proprietary tools is typically required. Superior communication, patience, and adaptability are essential soft skills for handling diverse customer inquiries and resolving issues efficiently. These skills are crucial for delivering high-quality service, building customer loyalty, and ensuring smooth travel experiences for clients.

What is a Freelance Expedia Call Center agent?

A Freelance Expedia Call Center agent is an independent contractor who provides customer support services for Expedia, typically from a remote location such as their home. These agents assist customers with booking travel, handling reservations, addressing concerns, and providing information about Expedia's offerings. Unlike full-time employees, freelance agents often have flexible schedules and may work for multiple clients or companies. This role requires strong communication skills, proficiency with computers, and a good understanding of Expedia's products and services.

How to become an Expedia agent?

To become an Expedia agent, candidates typically need customer service experience, strong communication skills, and familiarity with travel booking tools. Many positions require completing training programs provided by Expedia or its partners and may involve working remotely or in call center environments. Certification is not usually mandatory but can enhance job prospects.

Search & Comparison IntentFreelance Expedia Call Center vs Customer Service Representative

The Freelance Expedia Call Center role focuses on providing travel-related support on a flexible, freelance basis, often remotely. In contrast, Customer Service Representatives typically work full-time for a specific company, handling general customer inquiries across various industries. While both roles require strong communication skills, the freelance Expedia position emphasizes familiarity with travel platforms and flexible scheduling, whereas customer service roles may require more comprehensive industry knowledge and formal employment arrangements.

How do Expedia agents get paid?

Expedia call center agents are typically paid an hourly wage or salary, often with performance-based incentives or commissions for meeting sales targets. Compensation may also include bonuses, and agents usually receive training on using specific customer service tools and systems. Payment structures can vary depending on the employer and location.

What types of issues do freelance Expedia call center agents typically handle, and how should I prepare for them?

Freelance Expedia call center agents commonly assist customers with booking travel arrangements, modifying or canceling reservations, and resolving issues related to payments or itinerary changes. You'll also address concerns about refunds, loyalty points, or technical problems with the Expedia platform. Preparing by familiarizing yourself with Expedia’s booking processes, common travel policies, and customer support tools will help you respond efficiently. Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential, as you may encounter frustrated or stressed travelers, especially during peak travel seasons.

Can you work for Expedia from home?

The Freelance Expedia Call Center role often allows remote work, enabling agents to perform customer service tasks from home. Successful candidates typically need a reliable internet connection, a quiet workspace, and relevant communication skills. However, specific remote work policies may vary by employer and position requirements.

Are Expedia interviews hard?

Expedia call center jobs typically involve a structured interview process that assesses customer service skills, communication, and problem-solving abilities. The difficulty varies depending on the role and the candidate's experience, but preparation in product knowledge and common customer scenarios can improve success. Technical or role-specific questions may also be part of the interview.

Job description

Salary: $50,000–$65,000 (based on experience).

MARKETING MANAGER - DIGITAL SYSTEMS JOB DESCRIPTION

Who we are

LodgeWorks is a privately held hotel development and management company. While our name isn't on the hotels themselves, our extraordinary culture is at the heart of our 18 hotels - including our award-winning Archer Hotel boutique collection and our portfolio of other great brands with familiar names, such as Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, Aloft, and Hampton Inn.

We're thrilled to be considered industry innovators with a rich 40+ year history. Yet, what we are most proud of is the strong family culture we have developed and maintained while growing to 1,000+ employees nationwide. At LodgeWorks, hospitality is more than just the industry in which we work; it defines everything we do. Maybe it's because we're grounded in Midwestern hospitality (our home office is in Wichita, Kansas, while our hotels are scattered across the U.S.). Or maybe it's because we actively work to make hospitality (with each other, our guests, our clients and partners) the foundation upon which everything is built.

About the Role

LodgeWorks is looking for a Marketing Manager - Digital Systems to serve as the bridge between our hotel systems, channels, and partners that represent them in the market. This is a high-ownership execution role for someone who takes pride in getting the details right - accurate hotel information, consistent brand presence, and clean reporting - across every place a guest might find us. You'll work closely with our digital marketing, marketing and revenue teams.

What You'll Do

Audit and maintain accurate hotel details (descriptions, amenities, imagery, policies) across our reservation system, OTA partners, and brand websites

Own the accuracy and freshness of all third-party listings - Google Business Profile, Apple Maps, Yelp, TripAdvisor, and similar platforms - across our portfolio

Lead proactive community and local content enhancements to keep listings competitive and relevant

Compile and format quarterly reporting on marketing initiatives for leadership review

Communicate hotel detail updates to our call center to keep frontline reservations teams aligned

Serve as secondary owner for digital campaigns and core marketing systems including SMS, email, OTA ad platforms and others as needed

Identify and implement process improvements to make audits, updates, and reporting more efficient and reliable

Future scope: manage a consolidated portfolio event calendar and own our internal campaign database on the intranet

Other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

3+ years of experience in marketing operations, marketing coordination, digital marketing, or a comparable role - multi-location or hospitality experience a plus

Demonstrated comfort working across multiple platforms and systems simultaneously, with a track record of catching errors others miss

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage recurring, detail-heavy work without dropping threads

Working knowledge of at least some of the following: OTA extranets (Expedia, Booking.com), Google Business Profile, listings management tools, email/SMS platforms, paid media platforms

Comfort with spreadsheets and reporting; ability to format data clearly for non-technical audiences

Clear written communication - you'll be coordinating with hotel teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders constantly

Self-starter who looks for ways to improve a process rather than just running it

Requirements

This position is a 40-hour per week position in Wichita, KS

Work hours are M-F from 8 AM - 5 PM

This is an in-office position only. Remote work requests will not be considered.

Benefits

We are proud to offer competitive wages and the following benefits for full-time employees:

PTO

Hotel and restaurant discounts available at select LodgeWorks properties

Health, vision and dental benefits

401(k) plans with matching contributions

Paid holidays

Short-term and long-term disability (company sponsored)

Referral bonuses

Flexible spending accounts

LodgeWorks is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status or disability status.
