FOX News Media is looking for a Freelance Information Specialist that has a strong knowledge of current events as well as a keen interest in the details of politics, public affairs, and business news to join our team for a 1-year engagement. You will work closely with key members of the organization throughout the election cycle to research, prepare, and provide well-sourced, detailed information that confirms facts, adds context, and informs our national audience.

This flexible, 3-day-a-week role is a rare launchpad opportunity at America's most-watched news network.

Applicants should be available to the possibility of working afternoons, evenings, and one weekend day per week.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Retrieve, analyze, and confirm news information, facts, statistics, and contacts

  • Produce briefing books and news backgrounders for reporters and producers

  • Assist with providing information for special projects and planned events like Congressional hearings, elections, and town halls

  • Proactively provide compelling information for Fox Facts and story pitches

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 1-2 years of experience in a research role or strong internships in a professional live news environment

  • Strong political expertise

  • Passion for research, current events, politics, and business

  • Ability to juggle multiple assignments under tight deadlines

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including regular weekend hours, early mornings or evenings, and holidays

  • Familiarity with Lexis-Nexis, Factiva, Accurint, and the internet

  • Ability to identify primary sources

  • Working in a team environment

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $28.61-38.46 per hour.
