About the Position
Statewide association seeks a Digital Media Specialist for its general-interest monthly magazine with a circulation of 1.7 million to provide video and photography, social media management, and event coverage for the brand’s communications platform, its parent association and related organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Digital content creation (45%-55%)
- Produce, shoot and edit videos and capture photos. Requires traveling to cover events, people and places across Texas and occasionally beyond; shooting professional photos and video; and editing it for video packages, social media, print and the web.
- Digital content marketing (30%-40%)
- Direct and execute social media strategy. Requires managing digital social advertising and crafting and scheduling posts for social media accounts; monitoring comments and inboxes; and collaborating with colleagues and freelance contributors on social media planning and strategy to expand reach.
- Event reporting (10%-20%)
- Provide written coverage of events. Requires reporting, including collecting quotes and gathering facts to produce stories written in AP Style.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred
- Some experience with social media management required.
- Minimum of five years of experience (can be concurrent) in all core duties required
- The digital media specialist is a strategic and creative thinker with a passion for all things digital
- Competency in all software and hardware needed to complete high-quality video and photography projects required
- Outgoing personality; able to comfortably present programs/training and demonstrate initiative preferred
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills
- Must have demonstrated ability to work in a team environment on a wide variety of projects on tight deadlines with multiple schedules
- Position requires 30% overnight travel
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand or sit particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Must be able to operate Motor Vehicle to travel, which includes maintaining a Valid drivers license
- Able to operate a computer and other office machinery using finger dexterity for typing and writing.
- Must be able to communicate, converse with, and exchange information by means of the spoken word.
- Able to perform light physical effort to lift or move lightweight materials up to 50 pounds.
- Visual acuity to view a computer screen.
