Job description

We're actively building our summer cohort, apply now and we'll be in touch as spots open up.
Want a calmer pace, motivated clients, and a team that's actually fun to work with? As a DEXA Technologist at BodySpec, you'll specialize in preventive health scans in a startup environment where your work matters. Same clinical professionalism, better quality of life.

First-year DEXA Technologists in NYC can expect to earn up to $120,099 in total cash compensation, plus equity.
You'll Love This Job If You Have:
  • Passion for Preventive Health: You believe health is about more than treating illness—you want to help people understand their bodies and reach their goals.
  • Customer Service Instincts: You love one-on-one interaction and creating great experiences. You're warm, professional, and can make anyone feel comfortable—without the pressure of building your own book of business.
  • Startup Energy: You're energized by variety and building something new. Traditional healthcare feels slow and bureaucratic to you. You want to be part of a small, dynamic team where your work actually matters.
  • Grit and Flexibility: You don't mind early mornings or getting your hands dirty. You're resourceful—when something's broken, you fix it or propose solutions instead of waiting for someone else.
What Will You Do?
  • Perform DEXA scans (bone density and body composition) and guide clients through a seamless, professional experience
  • Own your scanning days—manage your schedule, equipment, and client flow with autonomy
  • Work in our storefront locations, delivering consistent, high-quality scans
  • Handle light administrative work and equipment care
  • Complete paid onboarding training (one week, travel covered) to learn our systems and scanning protocols
ScheduleFull-time with 8-hour shifts. Start times typically range from 7:00am to 12:00pm. One weekend day per week required.Requirements
  • New York State Radiography license
  • OR ARRT certification (Radiography)
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
Compensation
  • Hourly Rate: $53.00/hour ($110,240 annualized at 40 hrs/week)
  • Performance Bonus: Up to 7% of base annually ($7,717) half paid in cash ($3,859), half in stock options
  • Team Revenue Bonus: $500/month when we hit monthly goals ($6,000 annually—we hit our goals 9 out of 12 months in 2025)
  • Total Cash Compensation: Up to $120,099
  • Equity: Stock options through performance bonus and additional grants based on performance
All team members regardless of position are eligible for additional stock option grants and profit sharing based on performance. We expect both cash and equity compensation to grow as the company scales.Benefits
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off
  • Sick leave
  • $75/month commute reimbursement
  • $10/shift meal stipend
  • Company-wide peer bonus program for recognizing excellent teamwork
  • Employee assistance program
  • Regular team events (both virtual and in-person)

BodySpec is transforming how people understand and improve their health through accessible DEXA scanning. We're building a nationwide network of DEXA technologists who deliver professional-grade body composition and bone density analysis in a way that's welcoming, not clinical. If you're a licensed Radiologic Technologist looking for a calmer pace, a great team, and real ownership at a fast-growing startup, we want to hear from you.
