The People Insights Data Analyst plays a foundational role in building Patterson's People Analytics and reporting capabilities. In this role, you will deliver accurate, timely, and scalable HR reporting while developing the skills and experience to provide deeper workforce insights across the employee lifecycle.

You'll partner closely with the People Insights Lead, HR Technology, Centers of Expertise (COEs), and HR Business Partners to support critical decision-making through high-quality data, dashboards, and analysis. This position is ideal for someone who is strong in reporting and data management and eager to grow into advanced analytics, storytelling, and insight generation.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting & Data Management

  • Produce accurate and timely HR reports across talent, workforce, and operational metrics.
  • Build and maintain Workday reports, including calculated fields and advanced reporting objects with a focus on developing scalable, reusable, automated solutions.
  • Support regular People reporting cycles, including compliance reporting, talent dashboards, and operational scorecards.
  • Maintain data integrity through ongoing validation, auditing, and partnership with HR Technology.
  • Document and maintain a catalog of reports, definitions, and data sources to support consistency and governance.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including process redesigns and system enhancements.

Dashboarding & Self-Service Tools

  • Develop and enhance dashboards in Power BI or other BI tools to support self-service reporting across the People function.
  • Monitor dashboard usage, identify improvements, and ensure tools are intuitive and business-friendly.
  • Collaborate with HR stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate them into scalable reporting solutions.
  • Provide training and guidance to HR stakeholders on self-service dashboards and reporting tools.

Insights & Analytics

  • Support end-to-end analytics projects by preparing data, identifying trends, and summarizing key findings.
  • Contribute to workforce analyses such as turnover trends, headcount movement, hiring funnel metrics, and engagement insights.
  • Learn to translate analytics into clear, actionable insights and "so what" narratives in partnership with the People Insights Lead.
  • Build proficiency in analytical methods (e.g., descriptive statistics, basic modeling) with coaching and development support.

AI & Automation

  • Explore opportunities to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to streamline reporting, automate processes, and enhance data visualization.
  • Support testing, piloting, and adoption of new tools and methods that improve efficiency and insight quality. Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting processes and improve efficiency.
  • Assist with integrating data from multiple HR systems into reporting tools.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Data Science, or related field(s), or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 years of experience in HR reporting, data analysis, business analytics, or a related field
  • Experience building reports in Workday (including calculated fields, advanced reports, and matrix reports)
  • Proficiency with Excel and hands-on experience with at least one BI tool (Power BI preferred)

Preferred

  • Experience with advanced Workday reporting (composite reports, dashboards, discovery boards)
  • Workday Pro certification
  • Experience with Python, R, or SQL for data preparation or automation

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail, data accuracy, and documentation discipline
  • Ability to translate data into clear, easy-to-understand summaries for HR and business audiences
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn advanced analytics techniques, data storytelling, and predictive methods
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder partnership skills
  • Exposure to statistical concepts or experience analyzing HR datasets (turnover, headcount, hiring metrics, etc.)
  • Familiarity with AI tools or automation platforms (e.g., Copilot, Workday AI features)
  • Experience supporting or contributing to self-service reporting models
