Position Overview:

The Illinois Commission on Equity and Inclusion (CEI) is seeking to hire an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as a Business Data Analyst. Under general direction of the Chief of Staff, serves as primary data analytics analyst for the agency. Duties will include the planning and implementation of complex business initiatives, as well as the development of performance measures. CEI offers a competitive compensation plan, excellent benefits, and a pension program. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter excited about joining our new Commission and having the opportunity to collaborate with teammates on strategies to support minority suppliers and vendors grow their businesses. Essential Functions
  • Serves as data analytics resource analyst for Commission on Equity and Inclusion (CEI) executives and administrative staff.
  • Provides technical advice and recommendations to senior leadership in the development of data collection or survey questions.
  • Extracts, indexes, merges, and manipulates large and multiple data sets into database sources.
  • Attends and provides input in meetings and training sessions, stays abreast of advancements in data science and project management.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Specialized Skills
  • Requires one (1) year of professional experience using data visualization tools, such as Tableau and Power Bi.
  • Requires one (1) year of professional experience in the development of prototypes in scripting languages such as Python, R and Scala.
  • Requires one (1) year of administrative experience in a data analytics specialist role in a public or business organization.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with coursework in computer science, statistics, data analytics, mathematics, finance, economics, or directly related fields.
  • Requires one year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefers one (1) year of professional experience using data visualization tools, such as Tableau and Power Bi.
  • Prefers one (1) year of professional experience in the development of prototypes in scripting languages such as Python, R and Scala.
  • Prefers one (1) year of administrative experience in a data analytics specialist role in a public or business organization.
  • Prefers one (1) year of professional experience analyzing administrative problems and adopting an effective course of action.
  • Prefers one (1) year of professional experience exercising judgment and discretion in developing, implementing, and interpreting departmental policies and procedures.
  • Prefers college coursework in computer science, statistics, data analytics, mathematics, economics, or directly related fields.
