Job Summary
This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.

NATURE OF WORK
Makes verbatim stenotype record of legal proceedings for the Superior Court, and produces accurate and timely transcripts in format required by the court; develops, prepares and presents the official verbatim record of hearings, trials and other court proceedings as official court transcripts.
Nature of Work
(Illustrative Only) Attends court sessions for the purpose of taking down the spoken words of participants in the court process; uses stenograph machine or other dictation equipment to create record of verbatim testimony, colloquy, and discussions associated with court proceedings; works in the court room, in chambers or on a view as required; may provide real time reporting services; records testimony at a pace sufficient to allow uninterrupted progress of testimony and reads back testimony upon request by the judge or attorneys; provides clerical/typing support to judge's that includes the typing of orders, memos and correspondence; maintains a working knowledge of court room practices and procedures assuring the court proceedings are run efficiently; coordinates the flow of paperwork including periodic and special reports; uses Computer Aided Transcription (CAT) software for editing and correction of transcripts; updates computer dictionary with new terminology and technical terms as needed; provides real-time transcription services as directed; develops and updates transcription index, court indices, concordances and other ancillary products as directed; transcribes accurately and delivers for signature official court transcripts of the verbatim testimony and discussions taking place in court proceedings; proofreads typed material, makes corrections as necessary, and prepares and certifies final copy in prescribed format; keeps and maintains up-to-date index and record of transcripts pending, transcripts in process and transcripts delivered; organizes and maintains a variety of records requiring classification and compilation of varied information; files materials alphabetically, numerically, chronologically and by other predetermined categories; reviews tiles, documents, and other printed materials for completeness and accuracy; responds to sensitive requests for information and assistance; maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate publications and attending related seminars, conferences; performs related duties as required or assigned.
Experience and Education
High school diploma or equivalent; AND certification from an accredited vocational/technical school in court reporting; OR Certification as a Registered Professional Reporter; OR designation as Certified Shorthand Reporter from the State of Arizona; OR Certification from the Superior Court: AND two years of freelance and/or official court reporting. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: This classification requires the applicant to pass criminal background checks. A valid Arizona State Driver's License may be required. Arizona Committee on Judicial Education and Training (COJET) yearly accreditation is required; employees in this classification must have at the time of application and for continued employment, must maintain Certification as a Registered Professional Reporter; or, designation as a Certified Shorthand Reporter from the State of Arizona or Certification from the Superior Court. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a standard office environment and Court facilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: Applicable State of Arizona statutes, rules, administrative orders, policies and procedures, Federal rules and requirements; Yuma County Policies and Procedures; legal terminology and court processes and procedures; computer Aided Transcription (CAT) software; english grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary used in medical, legal, scientific and engineering work as well as basic, commonly used foreign words and phrases; basic principles and practices of bookkeeping, record keeping, case management, and records management; legal research techniques and procedures; generally accepted court reporting practices and procedures; modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
Skills in: Working under pressure in a dynamic work environment with changing demands and priorities; establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with court employees, and the public; communicating verbally and producing written documents with clearly organized thoughts; producing and finalizing written transcripts that serves as the official court transcript of proceedings; operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications; using interpersonal skills that supports working with a diverse group of individuals that include judges, court staff, litigants, attorneys and the general public; working under pressures, time constraints and conflicting priorities; maintaining clerical records and compile reports from this information; transcribing stenographic material into typewritten copy with speed (225wpm) and accuracy.

Medical Coverage Category
The YCEBT is a self-funded medical plan administered by BlueCross BlueShield of Arizona (BCBSAZ). The employee is able to select from three (3) medical plan options with six (6) tiers that will best suit the employee's needs, dependents or families.
Plan Option 1: Preferred Provider Option A (PPO) or PPO A 1100 deductible. Employees who participate in the "Wellness Incentive" will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.
Plan Option 2: Preferred Provider Option B (PPO) or PPO B 1,500 deductible. Employees who participate in the "Wellness Incentive" will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.
Plan Option 3: High Deductible High Plan - Health Savings Account (HDHP-HSA) with a 1700 deductible. Employees who participate in the " Wellness Incentive" will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.
Employer contributes a total of $800.04 to employees Health Savings Account. If employees select Employee only and participate in the " Wellness Incentive" employees can receive up to 360.00 contribution to a Limited Purpose FSA card to be used for medical or dental purposes.
Southwest Service Administrator (SSA) Mexico PPO Health Plan: SSA is available to employees who are enrolled in YCEBT Medical PPO Plan A and PPO Plan B. The SSA Plan pays 100% of hospital, medical, laboratory and prescription drug benefits, to a maximum of $5,000 per person per calendar year ($10,000 for two or more family members).
