Job description

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):

  • Associates of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or other related fields preferred.
  • 2+ years of related experience producing electrical design drawings with a focus on industrial controls systems preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret documents such as: construction drawings, single lines, product manuals, control drawings, work instructions, written directions, and markups to electrical control drawings.
  • Strong analytical, communication and organizational skills with a focus on
    continuous improvement.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate with a positive can-do attitude.
  • Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including collaborating with other teams.
  • Ability to use 2-D AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent software efficiently.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications.
  • Familiar with UL, NEC, and NFPA 79 standards.
  • Knowledgeable of industry standards for drafting.
  • Willingness to learn and apply instruction from senior staff.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and bills of materials
    adhering to project technical documentation to produce design package
    ensuring compliance with PowerSecure design standards and applicable code or project specifications.
  • Review construction drawings to ensure alignment with assigned task and bring concerns to team lead or Project Engineer in a timely fashion to mitigate any potential delays.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other engineering disciplines, technical project management and other departments to complete project deliverables.
  • Be an active participant in project meetings including handoff, release review, and design meetings as required with the necessary stakeholders.
  • Design is responsible for setting up Vault structure (folders, items, ECOs).
  • Support manufacturing product build inspections.
  • Process design changes through revision documentation within PDM software.
    Producing drawing packages for lead or senior staff to review prior to release.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, Vault, IFS and other tools.
  • Identify and execute processes that reduce the overall cost to manufacture, install and operate our products.
  • Coordinate with QC to inspect products in manufacturing to troubleshoot
    discrepancies.
  • Ensure schedules and milestone dates are achieved.
  • Actively seek opportunities to learn processes, standards and best practices related to electrical design.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Occasionally assist in moving materials and equipment that weigh ~40 lbs.
  • Occasionally visit manufacturing floor and utilize proper PPE
  • Prolonged sitting with computer usage.
