Freelance Communication information

What is a freelance communication professional?

A Freelance Communication professional is an independent contractor who provides communication services such as public relations, content creation, media relations, copywriting, or digital communications to various clients. They work on a project or contract basis rather than being a full-time employee at a single organization. These professionals help clients develop and deliver effective messages to target audiences, improve brand visibility, and manage stakeholder engagement. Their work can span across industries, including corporate, nonprofit, and media sectors.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a freelance communication specialist?

To thrive as a Freelance Communication Specialist, you need excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, often backed by a degree in communications, journalism, or a related field. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), social media platforms, and digital marketing tools like Mailchimp or Hootsuite is typically required. Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to manage client relationships set successful freelancers apart. These skills and qualities are essential to deliver clear, effective messaging and maintain a steady stream of satisfied clients in a competitive market.

How do freelance communication professionals typically manage client relationships and project expectations?

Freelance communication professionals often juggle multiple clients and projects at once, making clear communication and expectation management essential. They usually set up regular check-ins, utilize project management tools, and provide detailed proposals or contracts to outline deliverables and timelines. Building strong, transparent relationships helps prevent misunderstandings and ensures the work aligns with client goals. Many freelancers also rely on feedback loops and adaptability to adjust their approach based on client input throughout the project lifecycle.

Locations: Calgary, Lethbridge, Red Deer

Position Type: Freelance, Casual

About Therapia:

Founded in 2015, Therapia is redefining physiotherapy by delivering care directly to patients' homes. Guided by our mission to deliver high-quality, personalized care that meets people where they are, we aim to improve accessibility, connect the healthcare system, and shift the focus from sick care to true health care through prevention, healthy lifestyles, and compassionate support.

With Therapia, you will enjoy the freedom to set your own schedule, earn more than traditional clinic settings, and use technology that makes the experience seamless for both you and your patients.

Your Role at Therapia:

As a physiotherapist at Therapia, you will conduct in-home physiotherapy assessments and treat a range of acute and chronic conditions, while also focusing on wellness and prevention to help patients maintain their health and stay active long term. Working independently, you will use our platform to communicate with patients, while being supported by our administrative team who will manage marketing and scheduling for you.

What's In It For You?

  • Set your own schedule: Take on as many or few clients as you'd like - hassle free!
  • Focus on patient care: Booking, billing, marketing - leave it up to us!
  • Be your own boss: Streamline your practice with our easy-to-use intuitive online platform designed for efficient caseload management!

What We Expect From You:

  • Conduct Assessment and Develop Care Plans: Perform comprehensive in-home physiotherapy assessments to evaluate mobility, strength, pain and function. Use clinical reasoning to develop personalized, goal-orientated treatment plans.
  • Deliver Evidence Based Treatment: Provide hands on and/or virtual physiotherapy including manual techniques, therapeutic exercises and active rehab interventions tailored to each patient's needs
  • Monitor Progress and Adjust Plans: Track outcomes, update treatment goals and be adaptable to patients changing needs to ensure they are progressing and reaching milestones
  • Ensure Safety and Compliance: Assess home environments for safety risks, follow infection control protocols and adhere to regulatory documentation standards.
  • Manage Your Caseload Independently: Use Therapia's convenient platform to manage clinical notes and coordinate directly with patients in your preferred service area.
  • Educate and Empower Your Patients: Instruct patients and families on home exercise programs, and post-operative care to support recovery and independence.
  • Collaborate with our Administrative Team: Coordinate your schedule and availability with the team to ensure seamless operation for patient bookings.

Requirements:

  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists in the region for which care is provided
  • New grads welcome (also accepting physiotherapy residents)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience in orthopedic, post-surgical, Pediatric or geriatric physiotherapy is considered a strong asset
  • Flexibility to travel at least 30 minutes to patients' homes is highly preferred
