What does a freelance color consultant do?

A Freelance Color Consultant is a professional who specializes in advising individuals or businesses on the selection and coordination of colors for various projects, such as interior spaces, branding, fashion, or product design. They assess a client's needs, preferences, and the intended environment to recommend color schemes that enhance aesthetics, mood, or functionality. Working independently, they often collaborate with designers, architects, marketers, or homeowners to achieve visually appealing and harmonious results.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a freelance color consultant?

To thrive as a Freelance Color Consultant, you need a deep understanding of color theory, design principles, and experience in interior design or a related field. Familiarity with digital design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and color visualization software is often required. Strong interpersonal skills, creativity, and the ability to interpret client needs make a consultant stand out. These skills ensure you can deliver personalized, effective color solutions that enhance client satisfaction and project outcomes.

What are common challenges freelance color consultants face when working with new clients?

Freelance color consultants often encounter challenges such as translating a client's vision into practical color schemes, managing differing aesthetic preferences among stakeholders, and working within existing architectural or brand constraints. Additionally, building trust with new clients and clearly communicating the impact of color choices on mood and functionality are essential. Successful consultants use detailed consultations, mood boards, and digital visualization tools to overcome these hurdles and ensure client satisfaction.

Content and Marketing Manager (Part-Time, Remote Contractor)

Jackson LLP Healthcare Lawyers

Chicago, IL โ€ข Remote

Job description

About Us

Jackson LLP is a boutique healthcare law firm with a client-centered ethos and friendly work environment. We represent small and mid-sized healthcare practices on regulatory and transactional business matters.
We seek a Content and Marketing Manager to run the firm’s content and marketing operation. This is a fully remote contractor position at 25 to 30 hours per week.

Position Description

This is a mid-level position. Strong editorial judgment is the core requirement. The Content and Marketing Manager runs the firm’s content pipeline from draft to publication. You will edit content for clarity, readability, and brand voice, manage the editorial calendar, keep publication on schedule, and measure what the marketing produces. You will work directly with firm leadership and coordinate the work of the firm’s marketing team, and you will be expected to bring well-reasoned, data-supported recommendations to the table.

Responsibilities

  • Edit blog posts, feature pages, and other written content for clarity, readability, and brand voice, delivering near-publication-quality drafts for attorney review.
  • Manage the editorial calendar and content pipeline in our project management system, tracking assignments and keeping production on schedule.
  • Assign and scope projects for the firm’s content team.
  • Manage recurring marketing content, including LinkedIn posts, Google Business Profile updates, and Mailchimp newsletters.
  • Optimize content for search and execute against the firm’s SEO roadmap, including keyword research and content gap analysis.
  • Coordinate publication and site updates with the firm’s website team.
  • Review and art-direct freelance design work, including ebooks, logos, and web assets, and evaluate designers when new work arises.
  • Track marketing performance and report regularly on lead flow and related pipeline metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to update, consolidate, or expand existing content, and pitch growth initiatives supported by data.

Requirements

  • Experience running a content operation or editorial workflow.
  • Working knowledge of on-page SEO, including proficiency with a major SEO platform (such as Ahrefs or Semrush) for keyword research and content gap analysis.
  • Analytics literacy, including Google Search Console and Google Analytics, and comfort owning recurring performance reporting.
  • Ability to art-direct and quality-check freelance design work is required; hands-on design skills (Canva, Adobe, Figma) are a plus.
  • Familiarity with an email marketing platform (such as Mailchimp) and WordPress.
  • Prior content work for professional services audiences (legal, medical, accounting, financial advisory, or consulting) is strongly preferred.
  • Organized, reliable, and comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment.
  • Personable, friendly, and clear in written communication.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.

Hours and Location

  • Independent contractor engagement, 25 to 30 hours per week to start, with room to grow
  • Fully remote; candidates may be located anywhere in the United States
  • Hours are flexible and not fixed to a set schedule

To Apply

Submit a resume, samples of content work with a brief note on your specific role in each (a before-and-after editing sample is especially welcome), and a brief statement describing your experience editing or managing content for professional services audiences. Applications without all three will not be reviewed. Finalists will complete a paid project on actual firm content before any offer is made.
