CNC Set Up Machinist (Onsite)
Primary Location: Libertyville, Illinois
V-Soft Consulting is currently hiring for a CNC Set Up Machinist for our premier client in Libertyville, Illinois.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Technical Requirements and Certifications ยป
  • Technical School Certification or post-secondary schooling that included training in math, blueprint reading, and metalworking.

Education and Experience ยป
  • High school diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree preferred or completion of Technical School Certification with a concentration in Machine Tool Technology, Manufacturing, Engineering, Computers or Mathematics.
  • Demonstrated credentials in CNC machine operation, G and M codes, and other relevant competencies.
  • Minimum of three (3) years in a manufacturing environment with specific focus on CNC machinery and set up.
  • Demonstrated prior experience in set up and operation to produce parts and tools from metal, plastic, or other materials.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities ยป
  • Demonstrated proficiency in mathematical skills including the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to read a blueprint or schematic.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Job Responsibilities:
  • Reads drawings and job router for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, as well as tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and check of sequence of operations.
  • Positions and secures workpiece in holding device, machine table, chuck, vises or fixture.
  • Touches off tools, inputs offset height and tool clamps, picks up, coordinates and machines parts.
  • Prepares jobs completely for operation by setting up all proper gaging equipment machining and an acceptable 1st piece, checking tools to ensure they are cutting correctly, providing proper coolant, and the speeds and feeds.
  • Instructs operators on all inspection methods, loading instructions, and safety information needed to operate the machine(s).
  • Inspects and measure parts to maintain blueprint specifications.
  • Responsible for adjusting the machine to control speed, material feed and path of the cut, make sure the machines are set up properly, working well, and producing quality products.
  • Operates multiple CNC machines simultaneously.
  • Know machine setup and G & M codes.
  • Always maintain a clean work area and machine.
  • Report discrepancies in job route times as soon as they are identified.
  • Follows all applicable ISO standards and safety protocols including use of appropriate PPE.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
