Job description

Aegis is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector to join our client's organization in Harvey, IL. This role is a direct hire position. The ideal candidate has the following skills and experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in welding inspection (fabrication, welding, and quality control)
  • AWS (CWI) Certification in welding inspection - must have proof of this to be considered for the role.
  • Experience in metal fabrication and welding (mig mainly)
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, simple fabrication tools, and measuring devices.
  • Ability to perform acceptable welds in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions.
  • Skilled in GMAW, FCAW, and/or SAW welding processes.
  • Ability to use carbon-arc gouging (air-arc) equipment, hand grinding/profiling tools, and fixture aids.
  • Recognition of simple visual weld defects.
  • Experience monitoring, adjusting, and inspecting weld quality.
  • Able to pass a 2G test and horizontal AWS test - various thickness and size.

Physical requirements:
  • Able to lift up to 60 lbs
  • Able to pass a eye test (Jaeger) with or without glasses.
