Many of these projects draw upon Moffitt's Total Cancer Care initiative, which provides access to a comprehensive set of clinical and molecular data on a large number of cancer patients.
The Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics is the largest academic department at Moffitt and one of three departments in the academic Division of Quantitative Sciences within the Moffitt Research Institute. Alongside the Departments of Machine Learning and Integrated Mathematical Oncology, the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics offers a unique environment for quantitative scientists focused exclusively on cancer. Institutional investments in the Moffitt Cancer Analytics Platform, high performance computing, and the Total Cancer Care Protocol offer unique resources for data-driven team science.
The Ideal Candidate:
• Preference will be given to applicants with a strong track record in translational bioinformatics and computational/systems biology, particually in cancer research. Areas of emphasis include, but are not limited to, epigenomics, proteomics, metabolomics, population and real-world genetics, AI-driven biomarker discovery, liquid biopsy techniques, drug discovery and therapeutic innovation, single-cell/spatial omics, and computational immuno-oncology.
• We seek candidates who can contribute to the many current clinical, basic science, and translational studies at Moffitt, with a demonstrated commitment to team scienceas, as evidenced by a history of peer-reviewed publications and involvement in grant supported research projects.
• The candidate is expected to identify and resolve methodological issues that arise in team science research, as a major expectation is to identify areas of methodological research in which to engage that will benefit the candidate's research.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct independent and collaborative genomics-based research in translational bioinformatics, cancer bioinformatics, and computational biology.
• Team science collaboration to tackle a variety of cancer clinical and basic science research projects.
• Communicate clearly and openly.
• Build relationships to promote a collaborative environment.
Credentials and Qualifications:
Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in biomedical informatics, bioinformatics, computational immunology, computer science, biostatistics or related field and relevant research training and experience.
Academic rank beyond Assistant Member will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position is tenure-earning. Salary and start-up funds are highly competitive.
Interested applicants should send a single PDF file that includes a cover letter summarizing their research training and accomplishments, a personal statement of scientific interests and goals, current CV with recent publications, and contact information for three references to Dr. Xiaoqing Yu, Search Committee Chair, at Xiaoqing.Yu@moffitt.org. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
