This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non‑functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built‑in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns.

Job Profile Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to join the AMRS Trading Engines team within Global Equities Cash Technology. This is an opportunity to help build and evolve a world‑class electronic trading platform that powers the execution of equity trading activity across global markets.

You will work at the intersection of low‑latency distributed systems, algorithmic trading, and high‑performance software engineering, developing the next generation of trading capabilities that enable our business to compete in increasingly sophisticated and competitive markets.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in Java and/or C++, hands‑on experience building electronic trading systems, and a passion for modern engineering practices, scalable architectures, and performance optimization.

Responsibilities:
  • Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements

  • Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained

  • Mentors other software engineers and coach team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stack

  • Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle

  • Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas

  • Automates manual release activities

  • Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)

  • Design and develop core components of our Algorithmic Trading Platform, Smart Order Router (SOR), and Matching Engine ecosystem.

  • Build highly performant, resilient, and scalable solutions that directly impact execution quality for both institutional and internal clients.

  • Partner closely with trading, quantitative, and technology teams to transform complex business requirements into robust technical solutions.

  • Drive architecture, design, implementation, testing, and operational excellence across the software development lifecycle.

  • Enhance and optimize the firm’s high‑performance trading framework and core infrastructure components.

Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience.

  • Extensive experience building high‑performance applications in Java on Linux.

  • Strong hands‑on experience developing electronic trading or other latency‑sensitive financial systems.

  • Solid understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, and performance optimization.

  • Automation‑first mindset with strong knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing, and shift‑left quality practices.

  • Experience working within Agile development environments and modern engineering workflows.

  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, collaborative setting.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience

  • Proficiency in programming language(s) required for the role

  • Deep understanding of Equities market structure, electronic trading, smart order routing, and algorithmic execution.

  • Practical experience leveraging AI‑assisted development tools to improve software delivery and engineering productivity.

  • Experience designing and deploying applications in cloud‑native and containerized environments.

  • Proficiency in C++ and performance‑sensitive system development.

  • Familiarity with low‑latency networking, exchange protocols, market data systems, and trading infrastructure.
