This position is based in Chicago and will involve a combination of remote and in-office work. This role also requires travel to multiple markets to support client activations.

SUMMARY

The Contract Spatial Designer is a part-time/freelance position in the creative department that requires 3D design experience and superior aesthetic sensibilities. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to manage and design for a wide range of projects and brands. Candidates should have a strong understanding of event planning and build knowledge.

The Contract Spatial Designer is a visualizer of the physical realm. From guest flows, space layouts, custom design elements, exhibit booths, stage design and mobile experiences, the Contract Spatial Designer focuses on bringing elements to life through floor plans amp; high quality renderings. The Contract Spatial Designer reports to a Creative Director and works closely alongside the rest of the creative team - graphic designers, creative strategists and other spatial designers. The Contract Spatial Designer is expected to bring a strong level of creativity and strategy to the concept development phase of new and existing projects and technical expertise to the production phase of live projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create high-quality renderings and floor plans (fly-through animations a plus)
  • Create spec and technical drawings as needed by fabrication vendors, AV vendors, etc.
  • Fulfills lead or support designer role on select live projects and new business Requests for Proposals (RFP’s)
  • Highly collaborative designer who works closely with the creative and production teams
  • Supports spatial project management including timeline management, vendor communications, design updates in decks, etc.
  • Communicates tasks and deliverables proficiently with a cross-departmental team (Client Services, Business Development, Production and Creative)
  • Superior file management and organizational methodology, following department guidelines
  • Communicates design updates and progress
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned
  • Position may be fully remote

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA or equivalent required in design-focused major (architecture, industrial design, 3D design)
  • 2-3 years of experience in an industry utilizing spatial design preferably with an agency, fabricator and/or architectural firm
  • Experience working with brands, trade shows and events
  • Experience working as a freelance designer
  • High proficiency in:
  • Rhinoceros 3D amp; V-Ray - Preferred
  • SketchUp, 3d Max
  • Twinmotion
  • AutoCAD
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Google Workspace (Slides, Docs, Sheets)
  • A portfolio of dynamic and versatile design samples that demonstrate applicable project work to our industry
  • Strong conceptual abilities (developing ideas/concepts individually and as part of a team)
  • Expertise in materials and fabrication techniques
  • High quality rendering skills
