What is free RBT training?

Free RBT Training refers to complimentary educational programs that prepare individuals to become Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs). These training programs typically cover the core competencies required by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), such as measurement, assessment, skill acquisition, behavior reduction, and professional conduct. Free RBT Training is often offered online by nonprofit organizations, ABA clinics, or some educational institutions, and it fulfills the 40-hour training requirement needed to qualify for the RBT certification exam. While the training may be free, additional costs such as the competency assessment and BACB application fees may still apply.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Registered Behavior Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Registered Behavior Technician, you need a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of RBT training, and passing the RBT competency assessment and exam. Familiarity with data collection software, behavior analysis tools, and adherence to BACB guidelines are typically required. Patience, strong communication, and the ability to follow detailed instructions are essential soft skills in this role. These skills ensure effective implementation of behavioral interventions and support positive outcomes for clients with developmental or behavioral challenges.

What can I expect during free RBT training, and how does it prepare me for working as a Registered Behavior Technician?

During free RBT training, you can expect a structured curriculum that covers the core competencies required by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, including data collection, client interaction, and ethical guidelines. Training is typically delivered online or in-person and often combines video lectures, interactive modules, and practical exercises to help you apply concepts in real-world scenarios. You'll also learn about collaborating with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and other team members. Upon completion, you'll be better prepared for the RBT exam and for performing entry-level tasks in applied behavior analysis settings, such as schools or clinics.

At Gold Vine, we believe in being the place โ€œWhere Every Familyโ€™s Journey Takes Root.โ€

We are a family-owned, BCBA-led organization providing compassionate, ethical ABA therapy to children ages 2โ€“14 in a supportive clinic environment. Because we are clinician-led, our decisions are guided by clinical quality and staff well-beingโ€”not just numbers. At Gold Vine, you aren't just an employee; you are a valued part of our family.

Why Join Gold Vine ABA?

Too many RBTs feel overworked, unsupported, and stressed by unpredictable schedules. We built our clinic model to change that. When you join our team, you can expect:

Scheduling Stability: Say goodbye to session cancellations ruining your paycheck. We offer consistent hours and reliable clinic schedules.

In-Person BCBA Support: Our BCBAs are right there in the clinic with you. They are ready to step in, answer questions, or provide hands-on guidance when you need itโ€”you will work side by side with your lead.

Strong Support & Mentorship: Extra supervision, open communication, and tailored training during your first 90 days to ensure you feel confident.

Professional Growth: Clear opportunities to advance your career within the field of ABA and our support right alongside you.

What Youโ€™ll Do

As an RBT, you will work directly with children in our clinic, helping them build meaningful skills through individualized ABA therapy.

Provide 1:1 ABA therapy and implement behavior/skill-acquisition plans under BCBA supervision.

Use positive, assent and play based strategies to shape behavior. You'll be taught to safely manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors without the frustration or constant overwhelm.

Support clients in developing communication, social, play, and daily living skills.

Collect and accurately document real-time data on client progress.

Collaborate closely with BCBAs, families, and the clinic leadership team.

Maintain a safe, positive, and encouraging environment for our kids.

Active RBT certification (or a willingness to obtain it with our support).

High school diploma or higher.

A genuine passion for working with children, plus strong teamwork skills.

Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism.

Ability to work in person at our Augusta, Georgia clinic.

CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred:

Experience in childcare, ABA, or working with children with autism/developmental disabilities.
