Job description

Our company is looking to hire the candidate for our primary DNA collector position in Portland, ME The main role of the job will be providing DNA testing (buccal swab) on the behalf of clients in and around Cumberland County as it relates to pending child support cases. PLEASE NOTE - This is position is only one (1 )shift per month and is an extremely part-time position. This is a perfect opportunity to earn additional income while providing a valuable service for families in the state of Maine.
Having a medical background is preferred but not required for this position. Applicants should have great customer service skills and work well in a team environment, yet be able to work independently. Must be reliable, professional and have a great attitude. Applicants must also have reliable transportation to report to the site for each testing shift.
  • DRAW SITE: Department of Human and Health Services (Portland)
  • RECURRING SCHEDULE: One (1) Thursday per month; 8:30am-1:00pm (schedule for the year is provided in advance)
  • UPCOMING SHIFT:8/20/2026

All staff will receive complete online training and over-the-phone training, as well as all supplies required for the position. A background check will be conducted after hire.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform cheek swab specimen collections
  • Take Photos and Ink prints of all clients
  • Fill out handwritten Chain of Custody form
  • Ensure specimens are properly and accurately labeled
  • Make FedEx run to drop off samples collected for the day
  • Keep track of supply inventory and order as needed
  • Able to work with the public and be friendly and professional
