Job description

The role of the Long Term Care Billing Specialist is to be responsible for performing the day-to-day activities within the billing department. This includes, but is not limited to, posting insurance and patient payments, processing patient payments, submitting for and following up on authorizations, and submitting claims. They should always take steps to improving the billing process.
Responsibilities:
  • Produce and submit claims to insurance companies and clients;
  • Work directly with insurance companies, facilities, and clients to ensure invoices are processed and paid in a timely manner;
  • Verify insurance coverage;
  • Manage receivables;
  • Produce Accounts-Receivable reports;
  • Manage inventory-control process;
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and organization information;
  • Perform other bookkeeping tasks as needed.
  • Fulfill other requests by the Accounting Department and Management
  • Report any unethical, suspicious, or otherwise morally questionable procedures by the company
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
  • Exceptionally detailed personality, with a focus in excellent customer service
  • 1-3 years of billing experience in a Long Term Care/Skilled Nursing Facility setting preferred
  • 1-3 years in accounts receivable in a healthcare environment; preferred
  • Knowledge with Medicare A & B, Medicaid, and Coinsurance
  • Experience with FrameworkLTC pharmacy software
  • High level of understanding with Word, Excel, Outlook, cloud based software, e-fax, etc.
  • Proficiency in verbal communication in English and understanding of written English
  • High School Degree or equivalent (GED)

Physical Demands:
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear
  • The employee is required to use hands to operate vehicles and office equipment
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision requirements for this job include: close, distance and peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
