Now Hiring: Staff Pharmacists – Long-Term Care Pharmacy (Virginia)

Location: Norfolk, VA
Pay: $60–$65/hour

Schedule:

  • 1 Opening: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
  • 1 Opening: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
  • Rotating weekends required

We're seeking dedicated and patient-focused Staff Pharmacists to support a growing long-term care pharmacy serving skilled nursing, post-acute care, correctional, PACE, and specialty pharmacy patients throughout Virginia.

Position Summary

The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for the daily operational duties associated with dispensing prescription medications in a long-term care and post-acute care pharmacy. This role ensures compliance with company policies, quality standards, and all applicable state and federal regulations while providing exceptional clinical support to patients and healthcare partners.


Key Responsibilities

  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of all new and refill prescriptions.
  • Review medication packaging, labeling, emergency drug kits, and IV medications for accuracy.
  • Maintain patient/resident medication profiles and clinical records.
  • Assist with the ordering, receiving, storage, documentation, and inventory of controlled substances.
  • Reconcile Schedule II controlled substance inventories in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide clinical consultation and respond to medication-related questions from healthcare professionals and pharmacy staff.
  • Document communications with physicians, nurses, patients, residents, and caregivers.
  • Prepare and/or supervise sterile IV medication preparation.
  • Participate in evening, weekend, and holiday rotations as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all state and federal pharmacy regulations.
  • Support pharmacy workflow while maintaining high standards of quality and customer service.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Active Pharmacist license in good standing in the state of practice.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently dispense prescription medications.
  • Experience using FrameworkLTC pharmacy software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.


Preferred

  • Management experience.
  • Minimum of two years of recent acute care pharmacy experience or one year as a production pharmacist.
  • Experience with IV admixture services and intravenous therapy.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for 7–10 hours per shift.
  • Occasional walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, and balancing.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours when business needs require.
