What is a Frame Coffee Roaster?

Frame Coffee Roasters are specialty coffee professionals who source, roast, and often brew high-quality coffee beans. They focus on highlighting unique flavors from different coffee origins, often working closely with coffee farmers to ensure ethical sourcing and sustainability. As a roaster, they control the roasting process to bring out the best characteristics of each bean, providing customers with distinct and flavorful coffee profiles. Frame Coffee Roasters may also operate cafes, sell beans directly to consumers, and educate customers about coffee.

What are the typical challenges faced by coffee roasters working at a specialty roastery like Frame Coffee Roasters?

Coffee roasters at specialty roasteries like Frame Coffee Roasters often face the challenge of maintaining consistency and quality across different batches, as green coffee beans can vary significantly depending on origin and harvest. Another common challenge is mastering the art and science of roasting profiles to highlight unique flavor notes while minimizing defects. Additionally, roasters regularly collaborate with baristas, quality control teams, and sometimes customers to ensure that the final product meets high standards for taste and freshness. Staying up-to-date with industry trends and new roasting technologies is also essential for ongoing professional growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a coffee roaster, and why are they important?

About Commonwealth Joe

Commonwealth Joe Coffee Roasters (CWJ) is a DMV-based specialty coffee company delivering award-winning cold brew where people work, live, and play. We are a fast-paced, collaborative, coffee-centric company, and we are serious about turning delivery into a real career, not a job with a ceiling.

The Opportunity to Grow

At CWJ, advancement is based on what you demonstrate, not how long you have been here. Every tier comes with clear responsibilities, measurable advancement criteria, and a published pay band, so you always know exactly where you stand and what it takes to move up.
