Position: Accounting Manager

Department: Outsourced Accounting

Reports To: Service Line Leader / CFO

FLSA/Employment Status: Exempt; Full-Time

Location: San Diego, CA or Remote

Compensation Range $105,000-$130,000

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our consulting team and serve as a fractional resource for clients across a variety of industries. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who can manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensure compliance, and deliver accurate financial reporting while adapting to different client environments.

Key Responsibilities

Client Service & Delivery

  • Act as an outsourced Accounting Manager for multiple clients, managing their accounting functions and ensuring timely, accurate reporting.

  • Oversee and execute month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.

  • Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with GAAP/IFRS standards.

  • Identify gaps in accounting processes and implement best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy.

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and maintain strong internal controls for each client engagement.

  • Collaborate with client teams and internal consultants to deliver high-quality service.

  • Assist clients with accounting system setup, optimization, and integration.

  • Provide insights on cash flow, budgeting, and operational improvements.

  • Serve as a key liaison between the client and internal teams

  • Support client audits, including coordination with external auditors

  • Recommend and implement process improvements and accounting system enhancements

  • Stay updated on accounting standards, industry trends, and regulatory changes

  • Experience in consulting or fractional roles preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's preferred)

  • CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred

  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or consulting

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards

  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, Sage, etc.)

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a client-first attitude

  • Experience managing and developing accounting teams

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • The ideal candidate possesses leadership and supervisory capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting skills and works proactively to drive results
