Fractional Analytics information

What is a fractional analytics?

A Fractional Analytics job involves providing data analysis, insights, and strategic recommendations on a part-time or contract basis rather than as a full-time employee. Fractional analysts help businesses optimize their data-driven decision-making without the cost of a full-time hire. They often work with multiple clients, leveraging expertise in data science, business intelligence, and performance analytics. This role is ideal for companies that need high-level analytics expertise but do not require a full-time resource.

What are the typical responsibilities of someone working in fractional analytics?

Professionals in Fractional Analytics often juggle multiple clients or projects simultaneously, providing expert analysis, dashboard development, and strategic insights tailored to each organization's needs. Weekly tasks may include gathering and cleaning data, building and maintaining reports, meeting with stakeholders to understand business objectives, and translating analytics into actionable recommendations. The role frequently involves collaborating remotely with in-house teams, ensuring analytic solutions align with the client's strategic goals. Because projects can vary in scope, flexibility and the ability to quickly adapt to new industries or business models are important for success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in fractional analytics?

To excel in a Fractional Analytics role, candidates typically require strong analytical expertise, experience in data interpretation, and a proven track record in data-driven decision-making, often backed by a degree in statistics, mathematics, or a related field. Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, SQL, and certifications in data analytics platforms are highly valuable. Strong communication, adaptability, and stakeholder management skills help Fractional Analytics professionals to effectively deliver insights across multiple organizations or projects. These capabilities are essential for providing impactful, high-level analytics on a part-time or project-basis, ensuring companies achieve data-driven results without a full-time commitment.

Experience: 8+ years of accounting, controllership, advisory, or public accounting experience
License: CPA required
Join an Employee-Owned Advisory-Focused CPA Firm
Kirsch CPA Group is a 100% employee-owned CPA firm seeking a Business Advisory Manager / Fractional Controller to help privately held business owners understand their numbers, improve performance, and make better decisions.
Through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan / ESOP, eligible employees have the opportunity to share in the success they help create. At Kirsch, you are not just closing the books. You are helping business owners see what the numbers mean and what to do next.
This role is ideal for a CPA with strong accounting fundamentals, month-end close experience, financial reporting skills, and the ability to advise clients on practical solutions to improve their business. A tax background is highly beneficial, but this is primarily a business advisory and outsourced controller role.
Why This Role Stands Out
This is not a traditional tax role, and it is not a back-office accounting role.
At Kirsch CPA Group, you’ll find:
  • ESOP employee ownership
  • Business advisory and fractional controller work
  • Year-round client relationships
  • Monthly close, financial review, and KPI analysis
  • Direct conversations with business owners
  • Collaborative client service model with shared client ownership
  • Flexible schedules and hybrid work options
  • 53-hour busy season expectations
  • Summer Fridays with reduced hours
  • Career growth through our THRIVE development program
You will be part of a team helping small and mid-sized businesses strengthen financial visibility, improve profitability, manage cash flow, and make smarter operational decisions.
What You’ll Do
As a Business Advisory Manager / Fractional Controller, you will serve as a trusted financial advisor to multiple privately held businesses.
Responsibilities include:
  • Lead month-end close and financial reporting for client businesses
  • Review financial statements and identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Meet with business owners to explain financial results and recommend next steps
  • Develop KPIs, dashboards, forecasts, and management reports
  • Advise clients on cash flow, profitability, margins, budgeting, and operational performance
  • Improve accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting workflows
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning conversations
  • Collaborate with tax professionals to connect financial results with tax planning opportunities
  • Manage client engagements, deadlines, and advisory deliverables
  • Delegate, review, and mentor team members
  • Help clients make better decisions through clear, practical financial insight
What We’re Looking For
Required
  • CPA license
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting, controller, advisory, or public accounting experience
  • Strong month-end close, financial reporting, and general ledger experience
  • Ability to review financial statements and explain what the numbers mean
  • Experience advising business owners, executives, or leadership teams
  • Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple client relationships and deadlines
Preferred
  • Public accounting, CAS, outsourced accounting, or controller experience
  • Tax background or experience collaborating with tax advisors
  • Experience with privately held businesses or small and mid-sized companies
  • Budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and KPI reporting experience
  • Experience improving accounting processes and internal controls
  • QuickBooks Online or other accounting system experience
  • Team leadership and staff development experience
Benefits That Matter
  • Competitive salary
  • ESOP / employee ownership opportunity
  • Flexible schedules and hybrid work options
  • 53-hour busy season expectations
  • Summer Fridays with reduced hours
  • 8 paid holidays and generous PTO
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • HSA with employer contributions
  • Life insurance and disability coverage
  • 401(k) with monthly employer contributions
  • Annual salary reviews and performance-based bonuses
  • Professional development and team appreciation events
Be Part of Something Bigger
At Kirsch CPA Group, our Business Advisory team helps owners move from financial data to better decisions.
You will work with clients year-round, collaborate with tax and accounting professionals, and help shape the future of privately held businesses. Our shared client service model means no one person “owns” a client. Instead, we bring the right team together to deliver stronger advice, deeper insight, and better outcomes.
If you are a CPA who enjoys closing the month, reviewing financials, identifying what needs to improve, and advising business owners on practical solutions, we’d love to talk.
