Position Summary:

Operator will load, unload, and inspect parts during the CNC machining process. Operator will be responsible for the quality and quantity of the parts being produced and for achieving production standards.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Observe all safety procedures.

  • Maintain a clean work area / 5S standards.

  • Follow documented operator procedures such as work instructions, inspection plans and check sheets, and posted operator notes.

  • Runs multiple CNC jobs dealing with complex parts.

  • Loads, unloads, and inspect parts being machined while maintaining target hourly production rates.

  • Consistently produces parts with less than 2% scrap rate.

  • Operates a variety of 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC mills / lathes, along with secondary operations.

  • Operates machining automation (where used).

  • De-burrs, polishes, and cleans parts as required.

  • Capable of performing cut down operations.

  • Capable of supporting new product development and prototyping.

  • Interpret all dimensions and GD&T on print, read and understand tolerance block, local notes, revision level, surface finish, etc.

  • Performs basic math calculations, including addition and subtraction of decimals.

  • Maintains dimensional tolerances as tight as .0003".

  • Utilizes precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, etc.

  • Can execute machine offsets and insert changes independently.

  • Maintains accurate part counts, fills out box tags and job/quantity tracker, and enters data into manufacturing systems / programs.

  • Has the ability to assess job performance, determine when a job is not running efficiently, and make changes when appropriate.

  • Report and collaborate with supervisor/lead performing advanced troubleshooting for machining problems.

  • Collaborate with supervisor and / or technical team on possible improvements to implement.

  • Performs basic CNC machine set-up tasks like length changes on like part families.

  • Performs basic CNC machine maintenance tasks.

  • Mentor and develop less experienced CNC operators.

  • Other duties as needed.

Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:

  • Excellent working knowledge of CNC functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation on 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC mills / lathes.

  • Effective time management and organizational skills.

  • Excellent judgment and decision-making capabilities.

  • Mentoring and developing CNC operators.

Position Qualifications:

Education:

  • HS graduate or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of prior experience operating CNC machinery required.

  • Highly proficient operating 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC mills / lathes.

  • Experienced with basic machine setups like length changes on like part families required.

  • Experienced supporting new product development and part prototypes.

  • Experienced in mentoring and developing CNC operators.

  • Highly experienced in manufacturing environment required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Manufacturing Environment

  • Lift up to 50 lbs.regularly

  • Requires walking, standing, bending and lifting for long periods of time

  • Vision abilities required to validate and enter data on computer

Compensation Range$28.80 - $38.64

The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Fox reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
