Step into a role where your expertise as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist will have a meaningful impact on students’ lives throughout the academic year. This full-time contract opportunity runs from August to late May, offering hands-on engagement in a supportive school environment near The Villages, FL.

This position is focused on assisting students in developing or improving their orientation and mobility skills, enabling greater independence and confidence. National Certification and Vision Certification are key requirements for this specialized work.

Qualifications:

  • Current National Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS).
  • Valid Vision Certification.
  • Previous experience within school settings is highly preferred, but all qualified applicants are encouraged.
  • Ability to complete the district’s two-part onboarding, including necessary forms and procedural agreements.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, as caseloads, assigned schools, and age range are to be determined.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide orientation and mobility training to students, developing individualized programs to support their goals.
  • Collaborate with educational staff and families to maximize each student’s success.
  • Conduct assessments, document progress, and participate in multidisciplinary meetings as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to all school district procedures.

Benefits and Perks:

  • Direct, on-site collaboration with a dedicated school team.
  • Structured, full-time hours (37.5 hours per week; 8-hour days with a 30-minute unpaid break).
  • Professional growth in a positive, school-based setting.

The district anticipates strong forward momentum, with interview decisions likely as early as next week following budget confirmation on June 8th.
