Job description

Business Development Representative – Intermodal

LOMBARD, IL or CHARLOTTE, NC

Odyssey Logistics moves freight globally for over 6,000 customers — and we're looking for a Business Development Representative who's hungry to build a book of business in intermodal and get paid for every win. In this role you're on the phone, in the inbox, and out on LinkedIn, hunting cold accounts and turning them into qualified meetings for an assigned Outside Sales Representative.

What You Bring:

  • 1+ years in freight brokerage, 3PL, transportation sales, or a related intermodal/logistics role
  • Working knowledge of intermodal, truckload, and/or LTL
  • CRM chops (Salesforce or similar) and comfort using ZoomInfo or other sourcing tools to find the right contacts
  • A hunter mentality — confidence on the phone, in email outreach, and navigating gatekeepers to reach true decision-makers
  • Ability to identify a prospect's pain point, connect it to our value proposition, and earn the next meeting

Nice to Have:

  • A bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or logistics
  • Existing shipper or carrier relationships you can bring with you
  • Knowledge of key competitors and how to position Odyssey against them

What's In It For You:

  • Base salary in line with your experience level
  • Commission eligible — reps with strong numbers can see $80,000–$90,000 in total on-target earnings
  • A running start into a sales career, working side-by-side with an experienced Outside Sales Representative
  • Backed by an established global logistics company with real operational muscle behind your deals — intermodal, LTL, and FTL operations plus a pricing team ready to move fast

What You'll Actually Do:

  • Prospect mid-market shippers daily by phone, email, ZoomInfo, and LinkedIn, building and maintaining targeted contact lists
  • Navigate gatekeepers and administrative assistants to identify and reach true decision-makers
  • Run discovery calls that qualify prospect interest and secure introductory meetings for the Outside Sales Representative
  • Work side-by-side with your Outside Sales partner and pricing team to turn set meetings into submitted bids and RFQs — then track results through to award
  • Maintain accurate opportunity data, activity logs, and lead data in Salesforce.com to support performance tracking and coaching

Ready to help grow Odyssey's intermodal business and get paid what you're worth? We look forward to speaking with you!

Compensation & Schedule Details:

Base Pay Range: $50,000 to $70,000 [annual]

On-Target Earnings (OTE): $80,000 to $90,000 [annual], base plus commission, for reps hitting strong performance numbers

Bonus Eligible: No

Commission Eligible: Yes
