Position: Manager, Intermodal Brokerage

Pay Rate: $85k to $90k per year

Job Description:

The Manager, Intermodal Brokerage is responsible for driving the strategy and development of Forward Air's carrier sales and operations team. This team is focused on developing long-term partnerships with carriers and building capacity for Forward Air to support and service our customers in an efficient and cost-effective manner. As the Manager, you will focus internally on providing your teams with the tools they need to better connect with and develop mutually beneficial relationships with carriers. Externally, you'll connect with carriers to understand the current market dynamics in the short run, and what Forward Air can do to better support their operations in the long run. This leadership position be expected to make a material impact on their team and the organization by motivating team members, ensuring our customers are being serviced to expectations, and curating new ideas to support Forward Air's growth goals.

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coach & development a team of leaders, putting them in position to best support their own team
  • Stay current with market conditions through external resources, carrier relationships and internal performance
  • Motivate team in a fast paced, transactional environment
  • Drive strategy consistent with current market conditions, and effectively communicate market conditions and strategy with functional leadership
  • Connect with team to generate new ideas to promote growth in department
  • Drive carrier growth strategies & execute on department wide initiatives
  • Establish KPI's for the team, team members and our carriers
  • Continually evaluate team staffing and growth needs
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years in a carrier sales and operations management role
  • 5+ years in Intermodal and Drayage carrier sales/procurement at a 3PL
  • Experience managing and coaching a growing team
  • Understanding of and ability to create transportation KPI's
  • Ability to influence others and drive positive results in short term and long-term initiatives
  • High energy with a strong sense of urgency
  • Comfortable taking risks and making decisions
