This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

Blue Origin is hiring a Fluids Analyst to design and optimize the Gas Subsystem for the Lunar Transporter spacecraft. You'll own the complete lifecycle-from requirements and interface definition through conceptual design, detailed design, component development, assembly, verification testing, and operations. This is a high-impact role where your thermal/fluids expertise directly supports humanity's return to the Moon.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Build and maintain transient fluids simulation models of the gas subsystem using Thermal Desktop FloCAD and Sinda/Fluint
  • Provide strategic guidance on hardware optimization, mission operations, and control logic
  • Lead trade studies across Gas Subsystem and neighboring subsystems
  • Define requirements and plan verification testing to validate hardware performance in relevant environments
  • Support the complete lifecycle of the Transporter vehicle from initial definition through in-flight operations
  • Drive design iteration through data-informed feedback and optimization

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of thermal/fluids analysis experience
  • Proficiency in Thermal Desktop FloCAD and Sinda/Fluint with strong FORTRAN user-logic skills
  • Deep understanding of Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and Thermodynamics
  • Hands-on experience with first-order and Excel-level fluids calculations

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced Engineering degree
  • Prior spacecraft fluid systems experience
  • CFD expertise (ANSYS Fluent, FLOW3D)
  • Fluid network analysis tools (AFT Arrow/Fathom)
  • Experience with cryogenic, two-phase, and gaseous fluid systems
  • Hydrogen and oxygen systems background
  • Process automation scripting skills (VBA, MATLAB, Python, FORTRAN)

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20
