Job description

Eaton's Corporate Sector division is currently seeking a IT Architect - Network. The expected annual salary range for this role is $146000 - $215000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do: The Architect, IT Infrastructure Network & Security serves as Eaton's senior technical authority for enterprise network, cloud networking, interconnection, private wireless, and network security architecture.

This role defines target-state architectures, technology roadmaps, standards, reference designs, and governance practices across Eaton's global network environment, including campus, data center, WAN/SD-WAN, Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Equinix interconnection platforms, and manufacturing connectivity. As part of the Network & Security Architecture team, reporting to the Senior Manager of Network & Security Architecture, this position partners with fellow architects to establish future-state infrastructure strategies and advance Eaton's vision for automated, AI-enabled, predictive, and self-healing network environments. This role focuses on architecture, standards, and governance and does not own operational support, service delivery, incident management, or project execution.

Job Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities Serve as the principal architect for enterprise networking, cloud networking, interconnection, private wireless, and network security. Develop and maintain architecture standards, reference architectures, design patterns, roadmaps, and engineering principles. Define secure, scalable, resilient network architectures supporting cloud-first and hybrid-cloud strategies.

Establish networking frameworks for Azure and OCI, including landing zones, hub-and-spoke designs, routing, segmentation, DNS, private connectivity, and hybrid-cloud integration. Define interconnection architectures leveraging Equinix Fabric, Equinix Network Edge, ExpressRoute, FastConnect, cloud on-ramps, BGP, and regional hub models. Provide architectural direction for private LTE/5G networks supporting industrial mobility, OT/IoT connectivity, manufacturing operations, and integration with enterprise networking and security controls.

Lead architecture initiatives for network automation and AI-enabled operations, including AIOps, observability, telemetry, Infrastructure as Code, intent-based networking, automated remediation, and cloud-native automation. Collaborate with architecture, security, cloud, and infrastructure teams to drive governance and technology strategy. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

Minimum 7 years of experience designing enterprise network, cloud networking, private wireless, and/or network security architectures. Minimum 3 years in a senior architect, principal engineer, or technical leadership role. Must reside within 50 miles of Beachwood, OH; Galesburg, MI; Houston, TX; Menomonee Falls, WI; Moon Township, PA; or Raleigh, NC.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future. Technical Qualifications Expertise in enterprise networking, including routing, switching, LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, cloud connectivity, remote access, and telecommunications. Deep knowledge of Azure and OCI networking architectures, connectivity services, security, routing, and multicloud integration.

Experience with Equinix interconnection solutions, cloud exchanges, BGP, private peering, and resilient hub architectures. Strong background in network security architecture, including firewalls, NAC, segmentation, Zero Trust, secure remote access, cloud security, and IT/OT convergence. Working knowledge of private LTE/5G technologies and industrial wireless networking.

Experience developing enterprise architecture standards, governance processes, technology roadmaps, and reusable design frameworks. Experience designing AI-enabled, automated infrastructure solutions utilizing AIOps, observability, telemetry, analytics, IaC, and orchestration. Familiarity with platforms such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Check Point, Fortinet, F5, Zscaler, Aruba, Azure, OCI, Equinix, SD-WAN technologies, telecommunications providers, and network observability solutions.

Strong understanding of cybersecurity governance, risk management, enterprise architecture, and technology lifecycle planning. Relevant industry certifications are preferred (e.g., CCIE, CCNP, CISSP, Azure, OCI, TOGAF, Terraform, Ansible, Private LTE/5G certifications). All positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process
