At USAG Fort Rucker, AL, SA-TECH provides Range Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support services for live training of the Aviation Gunnery Range Complex (AGRC) for the Aviation Center of Excellence and Fort Rucker Military Installation. We also provide O&M Core Services that enable management and maintenance of training areas and ranges by integrating mission requirements with environmental requirements and sound land management practices under the Installation Management Command (IMCOM) Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security (DPTMS) Directorate. The Fort Rucker Range and Training Complex encompasses roughly 60,000 acres across the Alabama counties of Dale and Coffee.


We are currently looking to hire an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician III at the Fort Rucker AGRC at Fort Rucker, AL on a part-time on-call basis to cover (as needed) for a current employee out on extended medical leave. As part of our crew, you will help keep everyone safe on the ranges by performing reconnaissance, classification and removal of Unexploded Ordinance (UXO). 


Your duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Perform reconnaissance and classification of UXO.  
  • Identify US and Foreign munitions and associated components to include pyrotechnic items, military, commercial explosives, and demolition materials.  
  • Supervise the location and marking of surface and subsurface UXO visually or using magnetometers.
  • Supervise and perform excavation associated with the recovery of subsurface UXO by manual or mechanical means for the purpose of identifying UXO.  
  • Dispose UXO IAW DoD/DA approved disposal procedures.  
  • Perform maintenance and operator checks on all team equipment.  
  • Prepare UXO-related administrative reports including after-action reports and maps of cleared and uncleared areas and standard operating procedures.  
  • Conduct daily team safety briefings.  
  • Collect and remove non-hazardous scrap as required.  
  • Utilize safe handling/operating procedures.  
  • Perform risk-hazard analysis.  
  • Determine magnetic azimuth and location using global positioning equipment or a lensatic compass.

Work Conditions:

  • Conditions will vary. 
  • Most work will be outdoors with temperature variations. 
  • Work will consist of 30% standing, 30% walking, 15% climbing in/out of vehicles, 5% stooping, 10% reaching, 10% lifting. 
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • Will be working around and handling unexploded ordnance.
  • This is a part-time, on-call position.

Requirements

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. 
  • Graduate of DoD EOD school - either the Naval EOD school at Indian Head, MD or the EOD school at Eglin AFB, FL.
  • Current Alabama Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
  • All employees will be subject to pre-employment drug screening and any offer of employment shall be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
