Job description

Job Purpose:
- Adult Choice is a substance abuse residential facility serving adults with substance use and/or co-occurring mental health disorders. The Behavioral Tech II plays a crucial role in supporting the mental health and well-being of clients. This position is responsible for providing direct care and assistance to individuals with behavioral health issues, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment, and facilitating daily activities and therapeutic interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and supervision to clients, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
-ย Assist in individual needs assessment, treatment plan formulation and implementation, if necessary, if necessary, for your unit
-ย Report all pertinent observations, changes in physical signs or symptoms, changes in emotional behavior and consumerโ€™s eating habits to the Charge/Unit Nurse.
- Help with the admission of consumers, including taking vital signs, bath and shampoo, if necessary, body check, checking for hazardous objects, listing valuables and personal possessions, and orienting the consumer to the unit.
-ย Ability to successfully complete initial and annual Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) physical restraint training and verbal de-escalation training.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and therapeutic environment, adhering to safety and health protocols.
- Respond to crisis situations and de-escalate conflicts using approved intervention techniques.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in behavioral health care.

Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- CNA preferred.
Required Experience:
-ย Minimum of One (1) yearsโ€™ experience in substance abuse and mental health setting is required
-ย Desirable to have experience working with psychiatric or co-occurring consumers of all ages
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and team members.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records and other healthcare-related software.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
