Job Description

The Aparecio Foundation's work is constantly expanding to take on new challenges in additional to other parts of the United States. But as our programs grow, so does our understanding of just how much work there is to do. We can't do it alone - we need your support. The Aparecio Foundation is looking for Board members for our growing organization. The primary responsibilities of a Board member is to advise, govern, oversee policy and direction, and assist with the leadership and general promotion of the Aparecio Foundation so as to support the organization's mission and needs.


Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Organizational leadership and advisement

Organization of the board of directors, officers, and committees

Formulation and oversight of policies and procedures

Financial management, including adoption and oversight of the annual budget

Oversight of program planning and evaluation

Personnel evaluation and staff development

Review of organizational and programmatic reports

Promotion of the organization

Fundraising and outreach

Ensure adequate resources

Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability

Ensure effective organizational planning

Recruit and orient new board members and assess board performance

Enhance the organization's public standing

Determine, monitor, and strengthen the organization's programs and services

Qualifications

Job Qualifications / Requirements:


Make a two years commitment of Board service.

Free of any commitments/conflicts regarding the availability to attend the Foundation's board meetings at regularly scheduled times, and special events as able.

Participate on a standing committee of the board, and serve on ad-hoc committees as necessary.

Be alert to community concerns that can be addressed by the Aparecio Foundation's mission, objectives, and programs.

Help communicate and promote the Aparecio Foundation's mission and programs to the community.

Become familiar with the Aparecio Foundation's finances, budget, and financial/resource needs.

Understand the policies and procedures of the Aparecio Foundation's.

Broad network of peers, contacts, resources and references.

Actively recruits four or more potential stakeholders per quarter.

Financially support the Aparecio Foundation's in a manner commensurate with one's ability.



Education and/or Experience:


Experience with board governance and compliance requirements

Experience at the board level or senior company management in a firm

Energetic, curious, inquisitive

Innovative while also understanding resource constraint

One who consistently contributes, yet is sensitive to the opinions of others and supports decisions which are in the shareholders best interests 

A mature, sensitive, team oriented and communicative individual

An informed, reasoned approach to complex business problems
