We are seeking a full-time Formulation Development Specialist to help bring unique formulations to life for our pharmacy operations in Canada. This is a unique position that will allow the candidate to explore and test their full-range of knowledge and expertise, curiosity, and support building out a unique platform that operates across multiple healthcare streams.


Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Ancaster, ON for a Formulation Development Specialist. The specialist will be responsible for developing and optimizing medication formulations across a wide range of dosage forms, conducting and coordinating research and bench level testing. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, preparing documentation, analyzing data, and providing technical guidance to support product development initiatives.


Key Responsibilities


New Formulation Development (40%)

  • Support the design and development of robust formulations for new medications across diverse dosage forms (solid oral dosage forms, liquids, semi-solids, suspensions, creams and ointments, powders)
  • Utilize pre-formulation data and physical pharmacy and pharmaceutical principles to in developing formulations.
  • Trial small-scale R&D batches to establish proof of concept and coordinate stability testing activities with QA manager.
  • Draft Master Batch Records and SOPs in coordination with QA manager and other


Optimization & Lifecycle Management (40%)

  • Systematically Review and audit existing formulations for formulation and process improvements
  • Support the investigation and troubleshooting deviations and OOS results
  • Lead re-formulation of existing medications to address supply chain disruptions, optimize process and turn around time, and improve stability.


Technical & Lab Operations ( 20%)

  • Maintain and operate R&D lab
  • Develop a process and system for all R&D work to document, track, trend experimental data, formulations, and processing parameters.
  • Develop business process for bringing new opportunities to market as efficiently as possible.


Qualifications

  • Strong Analytical Skills to perform research, data analysis, and problem-solving tasks.
  • Effective Communication skills for collaboration and clear documentation within teams.
  • Knowledge of Programming and Software Development for formulation development systems is advantageous.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, or other closely related field.
  • Ability to work effectively in an on-site environment with cross-functional team members.
  • Experience in formulation development is highly desirable.
