About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Powder Coatings Chemist to support formulation development, product improvement, and manufacturing operations. This position will work closely with laboratory, production, and technical teams to develop new products, optimize existing formulations, troubleshoot performance concerns, and support successful implementation in manufacturing.


Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and improve powder coating formulations
  • Support new product development and the transition of formulations into manufacturing
  • Perform physical, chemical, color, cure, and performance testing
  • Evaluate raw materials, including resins, pigments, additives, and related components
  • Troubleshoot formulation, processing, and product application issues
  • Partner with production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve product consistency
  • Maintain accurate formulation records, laboratory results, and technical documentation
  • Support product quality, continuous improvement, and cost optimization initiatives
  • Assist senior technical team members with research, testing, and development projects
  • Manage multiple laboratory and manufacturing support priorities while meeting project deadlines


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
  • 2+ years of hands-on powder coating formulation experience required
  • Experience conducting laboratory testing and evaluating coating performance
  • Strong knowledge of coating raw materials, formulation principles, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience supporting product scale-up or new product implementation preferred
  • Familiarity with powder processing and extrusion equipment is a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
