Job description

Location: Arlington, VA (Onsite – 5 days/week in the office
Salary: $85,000 - $100,000 annually

Reports to:  Salesforce Platform Manager

About the Role:

The Mercatus Center at George Mason University is seeking a Senior Salesforce Administrator to support the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and improvement of our Salesforce platform. This hands-on technical role will work closely with our Junior Salesforce Administrator on daily support and with the Salesforce Platform Manager and Solution Architect on larger technical initiatives.

Specific Duties:

  • Administers and maintains Salesforce, including users, permissions, security, objects, fields, record types, Lightning pages, and platform configuration.
  • Triages and resolves support tickets, troubleshoots complex issues, and provides technical guidance to the Junior Salesforce Administrator.
  • Designs, builds, tests, and maintains Salesforce solutions using Flow, validation rules, formulas, and other declarative tools.
  • Gathers requirements and translates business needs into maintainable Salesforce solutions.
  • Manages data quality and maintenance; builds and maintains reports and dashboards.
  • Supports Salesforce integrations and connected applications, including Certinia, DocuSign, Box, Quorum, Marketing Cloud, Zapier, Fundraise Up, FormAssembly, Formstack, and DonorSearch.
  • Documents configurations, automations, integrations, and support procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Salesforce administration experience.
  • Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator plus at least one additional Salesforce certification.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Salesforce, including Flow, security, data models, declarative automation, reporting, and data management.
  • Experience with Salesforce NPSP or familiarity with nonprofit fundraising and donor data models.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex issues, supporting integrations, and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving, prioritization, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience administering Salesforce NPSP and/or Certinia.
  • Experience with Salesforce testing, deployments, release management, and change management.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and commitment to continuous learning and Salesforce best practices.
