Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform diversified duties to ensure efficient operation of production packaging equipment
  • Provide emergency troubleshooting of production equipment during production runs while working in tandem with Production Maintenance Mechanics and Production Managers to maintain efficiency
  • Perform machine set ups and changeovers while maintaining full compliance with food safety and quality standards
  • Ensure effective mechanical adjustments are made in a timely manner to avoid downtime and product waste
  • Diagnose minor issues, repair or work with mechanics to help repair equipment, test and make necessary adjustments
  • Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Complete production and quality control paperwork with acute attention to detail
  • Must be somewhat efficient in using a calculator or have a general knowledge of mathematics.
  • Effective operation of computer, keyboard, mouse, and HMI
  • Effectively communicate with members of staff at all levels in a professional manner
  • Actively participate in company safety meetings and be a proponent of employee safety
  • Follow all GMPs and all other company quality and food safety programs as they relate to the production department
  • Must be able to operate two packaging machines efficiently with minimal supervision.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and completion of at least 2 years in an industrial production role
  • Food manufacturing and packaging equipment (form-fill-seal) both vertical and horizontal heat seal experience preferred and highly desired
  • Must have at least 2 years' experience in a machine operator role

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Knowledge and Skills:
Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus, but not essential. Must be able to operate a variety of hand tools, computer, mouse, and HMIs.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Approximately 98% of work is performed in a refrigerated or sub-zero environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, twisting, feeling, fingering, crouching, crawling and climbing during the entirety of shift. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 lbs. Vision abilities require close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus with or without corrective lenses. This position works with a variety of tools that vibrate.
